Get ready for a lethal dose of intense strategic combat, Redux will throw you into the Alien-Human war as a battlefield commander of either side.

X-Com: TFTD Redux remakes the classic X-Com 2: Terror From The Deep game by using a new kind of 2D engine. There'll be new features like Alien and X-Com factions having their own singleplayer campaigns, multipalyer and much more in this game. Development is still in the early stages and the custom engine is still unfinished. Check the forums for more information (official page link).

Hey guys! Sad news, X-Com Terror From The Deep Redux is dead. I've been very inactive and dispite the intentions to keep this project alive I have failed. I just don't have much time to make assets, post updates and stuff. It's been fun making it while it lasted. If anyone wants any assets I've made for this project I would be happy to share them, just PM me.

I don't want to bash TBS games, but sometimes they're utterly slow when having more than 2 players playing multiplayer matches (and it's nearly impossible to play with 3 or more players). RTS is the right choice for multiplayer matches with many players (like 2-18 or something) and it also allows player to think different fast strategies. This is a game for those who loves fast chess on steroids. :p

Oh god, multiplayer?

And having an alien singleplayer campaign?

I know it is pointless to say this, but I feel obligated to at least point it out:

X-Com and similar games don't have multiplayer for reasons beyond tech limitations of the time. If you create multiplayer you also must create balance. And that was the thing, there never was any remote form of balance. The humans won because of their wits and advanced training. By handing over control of the alien faction to a human you effectively destroy the dynamic that made the original X-com what it was.

This is why Laser Squad Nemesis and X-Com weren't the same thing.

I agree about what you said about RT in multiplayer. But I would play this in SP and only in TB.

there should really be a choice, a little toggle that makes it turn based in single player.

Having it turn based in multiplayer would be tedious, i agree!

Guys, guys - the game is on different scale. Yes, we love the TftD as much as we love turn based squad action. Hovewhere, the game will be on somewhat "bigger" scale. You will still fight through use of task forces, rather than brute strength. Each sides dynamics will be changed onto the real time. The aliens will trample the early human opponents, while as time goes on - the aliens themselves will need to have more powerful troops to take down exceptional soldiers. Though, the engine is different, so the way of the Apocalypsis would be rather... strange.

Game is good, only minus for it (in my opinion) is there is no windows xp version. It will be good to have that versio (then you don't need emulator or old PC).
