World War II Online is a Massively Multiplayer FPS, simulation game set in the Western Front of WWII. The game offers a strategic and persistent winnable Campaign that is completely player-driven, both in the strategic planning and players fighting to control territory.

Its scale is a massive 300,000 SQ KM that is an interconnected and zone-less game world offering total freedom for players. This scale allows for truly immersive combined arms pvp combat. Communication between the Army, Air Force, and Naval units that are engaged will help determine the outcome! There are no limitations to how many players can interact in a battle space.

All weapons, vehicles, munitions and ordinance perform according to realistic values. We have achieved this through direct access to historical archives, a network of military experts and our advanced proprietary game engine that goes in depth like never before. Armor on tanks and aircraft, as well as their internal components, are modeled down to the millimeter.

Our damage models go into extreme detail with each component being destroyable in vehicles including crew, weapon storage, gas tanks and more! You don’t just shoot a hitbox?NO! With every shot fired, multiple calculations take place that determine the round impact consequences. Some of these include; angle of obliquity, speed of round at impact, thickness of the armor, internal spall, armor penetration, parts of tank damaged, etc.

Just like in real life, the outcome of each engagement will be determined by strategy, tactics, teamwork, and your weapon handling skills! In WWII Online there are no special power ups or item buys giving someone a special advantage against other players. Every rifle is just as lethal whether you are a premium subscriber or a free player.

Well we're now 100% released on Steam and the team has done a pretty solid job at improving stability of the Campaign server. We're keeping a watchful eye on the feedback coming from new Steam users and how we can improve their onboarding experience to WWII Online. Today we're going to cover a bit of Production and things happening in the pipeline now that we've crested this major milestone of getting the game onto Steam. This includes us improving some legacy art, and today we'll unveil the new iconic 88mm model that is inbound to the game shortly.


One of the oldest models we have in game at this stage is a real eye sore. A major thanks to SADGUY for focusing his energy on getting this iconic weapon to look tremendously better and brought into the modern era.


As you can witness with the 88mm crew members from the BEFORE & AFTER fixes the crew members are being updated. We are currently experimenting with bringing those crewmen up a notch even further using the latest character models we have. An investigation and test phase is underway to see how we can achieve that while maintaining performance for clients. It may seem like not a big deal but remember all of the things you're currently rendering, those large scale challenges are still relevant.

Meanwhile some really old crew members are being updated and are in the can for deployment, which include:

  • 251 Armored Carrier (Driver & Gunner)
  • Opel Driver
  • Morris Driver
  • Laffly Driver
  • Bedford Driver
  • Whacky Laffly Crew
  • Bofors Crew

We've been cleaning up several old crew members and we're going to continue to do so. This will include creating some new character art, particularly for pilots, naval crewman, tank commanders and everything in between.


A quick mention and tip of the hat to Scotsman and HATCH for the insane amount of energy they're putting into getting you guys the most realistic / historically accurate data for how weapons should be performing. Most of the data work is completed here and we're pushing to get this going and out for QA testing as quickly as we can. This will dramatically impact how bombs explode, including the type of fragmentation they throw and the affects it has on opposing vehicles. Kenetic Energy are non-explosive projectiles covering all round types, ranging from the Armored Piercing (AP) rounds from your tanks all the way down to the small arms weapons like rifles and hand guns.


We've had more than 45,000 folks sign up for accounts in only 17 days on Steam. That is a pretty amazing achievement! Population levels remain substantially higher than we have seen in years, routinely around the clock. We're very happy to report this progress and these production items coming (more not listed here) are intended to help bolster that success even further.

Major thanks to all of the veterans investing the energy to support us, stand up to those who are quickly criticizing our awesome game and make sure the new users get the most welcoming and "arms wide open" experience I have personally witnessed. You are all doing FANTASTIC, keep it up and don't stop offering the help to the new guys that you're doing so well!

Nearly everyone I have played with any know that loves games have always said if they were to update these graphics to modern day graphics or something similar they we would play this in a heart beat :( but sadly its a relic highly playable but just ugly to look at real shame :(

p.s the game is incredible and such scale is what should the norm in games today but sadly its not

The payment system is really bad... I hate it....
like the grafic ... i hate it too ...
the looks similar at some places... but its empty too ...
BUT The feeling of the game was REALLY GOOD !!!( 9 years ago)

what i want to say :
Pusch that engine and take another one like SOURCE 2/ UNREAL or CRYENGINE
Give us Destroable ENVIRONMENT (optical and for tactics ), a NORMAL PAYMENT SYSTEM, and a new Engine ( 14 years are enought). The Engine was good enought 9 years ago but we write the year 2015 and we want actual grafic, environment,and a better interface.
There arent ww2 Shooters around. If you go to Kickstarter you have a real chance
Give it the name "Battleground 2"
Give it a actual payment system (abo is outdated(and you cant enter steam with THIS system))
Give us a good engine and not thousends of updates.
I dont know anyone who would buy a ABO for a game with this grafic.
You need bouth to get the game working for the next 7 years.

I don't know, I tried to get into it but I just couldn't find it fun. You can have 300,000 square kilometers of land to battle over, but what's the point if there's barely anything on it? There aren't enough players to make it immersive either. Every battle I took part in had at most 10 players total, and maybe some fighter planes battling above.
