Nice! Will it work in conjunction with other mods like the MW mod?

Yep, but instead of installing it in the World in Conflict directory you have to put it in your Modern Warfare mod directory. This is usually found in C:\Users\Public\Documents\World in Conflict\Mods\Modern Warfare – place your “units” folder in the Modern Warfare directory and it should work. If any unit textures don’t register tell me and ill fix it.

I have to ask you a question because I cant figure it out myself. how did you extract from the .sdf files? I have been looking around google for an answer for some time now but I can't find out how.

Sure bro, you need a program called ‘WinSDF’ in order to open the .sdf files of World in Conflict which is found here Massgate.net - scroll down and download the ‘WiC Mod SDK v1.400’ it contains many programs that edit WIC including ‘WinSDF’. After you download the MOD SDK folder copy and paste the ‘WinSDF.exe’ into your world in conflict directory (otherwise it won’t work) like so C:\Program Files (x64)\World in Conflict\WinSDF.exe and extract the files from there.

I tried to install that sdk but it wouldn't let me so I got winSDF from another site and did what you said. I put it into the directory and it did pick up the files, but now I don't know where the heck they extracted to! :( thanks for the response! :)

EDIT: also, could you tell me which SDF the textures are in? is there a main file? or do I have to extract all of the files?

Most the textures (units, vegetation, effects) are all located in ‘wic1.sdf’ and about 3 quarters of the way down the list once opened in WinSDF. the files aren’t obvious but all units have ‘units’ as the first word in their name followed by either ‘nato’, ‘us’ or ‘ussr’ for their respective faction for vehicles and infantry have ‘marines’ first then the respective faction’s name. All textures have .dds at the end cus they're .dds files.

When you find a unit there will be usually 3-5 files bearing the unit’s name – these multiple files are the desert, woodland and winter camouflage textures that the unit’s use (seen as _winter, _desert and woodland is just the first one, they don’t say woodland) and maybe some other remedial textures (rotor blades for example). When you open WinSDF and open one of Wic’s .sdf archives you see the file path on the archieve file name - the file path is the Unit's name/line seen in the WinSDF window.

For example if you wanted open and edit the m1a1 US Abrams Tank (Woodland Camo configuration) you will eventually find this in the list - units/us/us_m1a1/textures/new/_m1a1_diffusetest_bags.dds – this is the file path. So when you extract it the Abrams tecture will be found in C:\Program Files (x86)\World in Conflict\units\us\us_m1a1\textures\new

Could you make a version without camo in the infantry weapons? Thanks.

I don't have to, you just have delete the skin files (.dds) which you don't want. To remove weapon camo simply delete the following files;

'us_rifleman_medic_engineer_weapon.dds' - found in:World in Conflict\units\marines\textures\us

'ussr_antitank_weapon.dds' and 'ussr_rifleman_medic_engineer_weapon.dds' - found in: World in Conflict\units\marines\textures\ussr

Easy. The plain vanilla weapons will revert back into the game.

I tried using it with the no hope mod and it didn't work.

@Quest, Ignore the WIC MW mod install instructions. For all other mods including 'No Hope' just install it regularly - you don't have to do anything different. To install it regularly look at the HOW TO INSTALL section located at the bottom of the description (click read more +). If that doesn't work than you have not installed it correctly. Remember it's the 'units' folder located within the 'MegaMounds_skinpack_V2' folder that must go in your WIC install directory.

Could you tell me where the directory for a steam version of the game might be? i looked for it but could not find it

C:\Program Files (x86\steam\SteamApps\common\World in Conflict - the 'units' folder comes in the download, you will not find it in the 'World in Conflict' folder. To install simply unpack/unzip the 'units' folder, found INSIDE the download zip, into your 'World in Conflict' folder.

If done correctly it should look like this;
C:\Program Files (x86\steam\SteamApps\common\World in Conflict\units

hey for the woodland could you make them have UCP? Because that's what the US army uses it would be awesome!

Yeah I will soon. The WIC 'Modern Warfare Mod' uses UCP on their US infantry models (they took them from battlefield 2) - if you want to use those in the meantime.

I have a question, the mod world in conflict works on expanding Soviet Assault?

I am not sure what you're saying, the skins work in both World in Conflict and Soviet Assault, the latter of which is a expansion pack of the original World in Conflict.

You just extract it into your World in Conflict Directory. To install simply unpack/unzip the "units" folder, found inside the zip, into your World in Conflict install directory

you can with juice maker, I've never done it myself, and it ain't easy to do. You will have to look it up yourself. You will need the World in Conflict modmaker kit, that is found at massgate.com under downloads, and read the manual and follow the instructions - start there
