This game is about the player being dropped off into the wild uninhabited areas of the world away from man and then living to tell about it. You'll use strategy and will power to survive on whatever you brought with you be it a swiss army knife and rations or a hatchet and matches. With no health indicator your struggle is set by hunger/thirst/stamina meter that when fully depleted will signal exhaustion and with no food or water you'll have to find your own. Set in different locales all over the world we will explore caves, jungles, abandoned cities and glaciers. Welcome to the Wilderness.

Really enjoy the concept of this game, would prefer a non-linear version e.g random gen areas with a 'theme' that you survive in, the realism idea is amazing. I'll keep a close eye on this game, I have since I first saw it a while ago but only just made an account.

I was kinda hoping for that 2 but if you can make your own levels (heightmaps) then thats just as good...I think...

we are thinking of making the game moddable because you can make heightmaps using various diff programs and if you have unity free you can make your own levels. We're not however going for randomly generated maps due to the regions we are attempting to put you in are based off real maps for the most part. Secondly the areas will be connected and strange to have random maps connected when the area is explorable by several characters but different places. Being that character 1 can start in a valley walking around and character 2 starts ina swamp. character 2 can get to that same valley however they're going to have a long journey.

you should also try simulations, such as maybe a plane crashed, boat crashed, got lost driving somewhere and ran out of gas, other scenarios... also for a good jungle example, check out Lost Via Domus, that game has some really good jungle, im not saying it has to be that good, but could be something you should keep in mind.

Wow, im glad you draw from man vs wild, what you guys need to do in the urban city survival is something like worst case scenario, that would be awesome, also, the whole idea of glacier and caves is really great. Since you are using man vs wild for the idea, who will the main character be? will it just be the 'player', 'Bear' or a selection of characters?

we're having a writing session with different characters to choose from so you're not just "player 1 playing cliche character A"

Thats great, just being 'your self' is kinda boring. Will there be an option to switch betweene first and third person? and If possible, making a character creation system like oblivion would be a nice addition.

I don't think we're going to implement something that extensive because the game is almost linear in nature. The each individual characters will have different stories and reasons for being where they are and be dropped off in different locations even on the same map so you get to explore differnt parts that you may not see with one particular character.

That's gonna be a blast! Are you guys considering a Map maker, like in stranded II, I know its a bit much but it would be cool. Oh, music should be like man vs wild XD

because unity uses heightmaps for the terrain we may use a combination of programs, like the screenshots above from terragen, we can export those maps and import them into unity so what we make as concept can be in game implemented.

yea man vs wild is one of the main influences, we have some pretty nice locales lined up such as the cave of swallows. Since we are going for realism this whole toon testing thing was just for kicks. look forward to cave dwelling and glacier delving.

you also need to make it so you can make spears, bows, snares and traps and other weapons for hunting, and of coarse, animals to hunt such as deer, elk, rabbits, birds. also, if you have seen the urban survivor episode, it would be deaply appriciated if you could make a abandoned city to survive in.

that urban city survival scene has already been kicked around, not only are we thinking an urban city but many other places you wouldn't think to go.

one other place that i thought of, wouldnt just be a test to see if you could survive like you would everywhere else, without food and water and stuff, but also radiation. try making one place Pripyat, and abandoned city in Ukraine. the place has tons of radiation all over it, and would be a challenge surviving there.
