Nearly two weeks ago was the first important update to Welcome to Paradise, but we didn't have a IndieDB page then, so this will have to be our first article.
First and foremost this update fixed a completely game-breaking bug that we somehow didn't notice for nearly a week. You could run. "Deliberate Trudge" is the only official speed of the game, but somehow the dev option to run stuck around for the previous update. I say "somehow," but I know exactly how it happened and it was completely my fault. . . There were other little bugs that were squashed, but most of them were exceedingly rare anyway, so I won't get into specifics. On to the good stuff.
PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS
--The Bathroom models have been replaced by lower poly models that look better aesthetically
--The Kitchen (sans fridge and stove) models have been replaced by better lower poly models
--The dead palm tree models have been replaced with visually-the-same lower poly versions
--Updated the "Controls" picture on the main menu and moved into the new "Options" menu
BETA GRAPHICS EFFECTS
--Two new Beta GFX options in said menu
----Beta Option 1: Wobble Cam - An offset camera that fades in when you're dying, giving it the same effect as in the trailer
----Beta Option 2: Heat Haze - Adds a haziness to far off objects, as if there is a lot of heat in front of them
That's all for this update, but we are working on version 1.1 as we speak, which is planned to include side-stories (which we wanted to have ready for the initial release, but decided it wasn't worth the delay) and the ability to reread notes after you pick them up, through the inclusion of a satchel.
We're looking forward to it.
