The basic idea in creating this game is to bring realistic gaming to a new level. Game goal is to carefully recreate the events of August 2008, during the brief war in Georgia. One of the main goals is to create documentary project, following historic and personal records of the aforementioned events. Game development team is dedicated to create new balance and gameplay with interesting missions and places which include unique elements of the society on which them are based.

After months of work our programmer had finally managed to work out under barrel grenade launchers.
As you know, GEM engine strictly forbade to have secondary weapon on a rifle. One rifle = one weapon. There were attempts to overcome this by having 2 rifles on a soldier, one firing grenade, one firing rifle ammunition.

We now have functional grenade launcher. Currently we have AK-74 with GP-25 which is working but planning to add even more. Principle of work is quite simple:

1. select a soldier that carries AK-74 with GP-25 (another good thing is that whole operation is not linked to a soldier but to the rifle itself so any soldier can fire it)
2. select appropriate action (grenade launcher)
3. click on a place to fire there

Or you can take direct control and click right mouse button (to load the launcher) and left mouse button (to fire it). Simple and effective. And most important thing is: as soon as you fire it you can fire assault rifle ammunition, as visible here:


We also plan on some GUI enhancements to ease up exploitation of this new feature. This will surely change multiplayer a lot, no more super squads armed with RG-6. Grenadiers are now in their true form.

Our programmers are currently working on this feature, to make it fully guided. Problem of course is that there are several generations of them which differ in accuracy, speed, guidance etc. Plus some of them are fired from the IFV turrets (and some from tank barrels). We hope that this feature works out, community will be by all means notified of the progress :)

Just discovered the game, i'm amazed, this is true high quality... if im not wrong, thats the same engine as the one that men of war runs right? but it isnt going to be a mod but an standalone game... I didn't knew the MOW engine sources were open for other developers to use for creating commercial games.... Anyway, amazing job! Tracking and waiting for more updates.

Im guessing the good man was talking about the "alpha" from the interview: " I can say that we are hoping to make a base version of the game – let us call it Alpha – available for download at a minor fee"

I really hope you guys can finish this after so many years, Цхинвал в огне was actually considered vaporware by the MoW community after the initial 2010 info leak. And please, for the love of God, set up an own website with a proper forum, and constant news updates(doesnt matter what you post, if people can see the project is not dead, it will serve its purpose) if you wish to gather more attention.
Also: "The extent to which all of our ideas will come true greatly depends on the support from the community, so we are expecting mutually beneficial cooperation here." Sorry but a lone Moddb page wont cut it if you want to build a community. Currently your games a niche in a niche of a niche. Most strategy players dont know about Men of War and GEM engine powered games, and only a handful of MoW fans know about Five Day War. This trend in total obscurity needs to end if the project wants to be successful.

Thank you for the good comment and suggestions. Yeah, that's our practical plan - Alpha first. Probably shouldn't say this but we have our programmers on the full throttle, doing some changes in the engine, making it better. More will be said later since we are still testing and implementing new things. We are cut short of time due to the extent of work but sure, proper website and forum will be set up - ModDB is a good way to present people what we are working, at least in the basic form. We shall have a website then, just to finish some already started works (for instance, my current task is to finish new BMP-2 skin, for the enhanced and bug-free model, one co-worker is preparing Toyotas right now etc.) :)

Thank you for the insight and good suggestions and I completely agree with you - we are going to do it more open and wide (promotion wise). People might think MoW series are dying out, it is our task to bring more people in, show them full potential of GEM engine. And thank others for their comments and taking your time to post it.
