War Thunder is a next generation MMO combat game dedicated to World War II military aviation, armored vehicles, and fleets. You will take part in all of the major combat battles, fighting with real players all over the world. War Thunder offers a highly detailed and personalized aviation experience, giving players access to hundreds models of planes with detailed cockpits, dozens of upgradeable weapons, and flying skills that can be honed and improved with each mission. Thanks to the game’s painstaking attention to detail, you’ll truly feel like a World War II fighter pilot as you plunge into battle. The genuine World War II experience isn’t limited to the skies. The massive historical battles featured in War Thunder cannot be fought by aviation alone, so the game will also expose players to combat on land and at sea.

*[Patch 1.37 Update]*

The new tech tree is a grindfest, making leveling as long a process as World of Tanks. Also now the tiers of aircraft have been condensed to only 5 tiers which already were already being put into the same match anyways. However some genius decided it would be a good idea to mix 3/5 of these new tiers in any given match and make yet another aspect of this game suck by mimicking World of ****, shoving you into entirely unfair matches unless you have the best tanks or planes in the game.

The gameplay itself is mostly untouched, so I can't recommend you avoid this game. However every other aspect but the ingame combat is detestable from the expensive P2W nonsense to the nerfed income. Having enjoyed the more consumer friendly version for a while, this update makes the game feel like a less-terrible World of ****. For moments, I've considered giving that mound of crap a second chance. No amount of words here can describe how much I have come to hate these developers as much EA.

How a WW2 flight-sim should be.

This game features ******** deaths like your pilot being killed, 30mm cannons cutting through your wings like a hot knife through butter, and did I mention this thing actually has heavy bombers like the B-17?

The amount of ingame currency some planes cost can be daunting but unlike other F2P games repair costs some time ago were dropped significantly when the cost of planes shot up. It's pretty much impossible to leave a match without a net gain in money unless you have a really high tier plane and did fuckall.

In the future they plan to add tank and naval battles like World of Tanks, except unlike World of **** their versions are bound to be far better.

And on a side note, unlike World of Whatever in War Thunder you'll occasionally get free premium and they'll compensate for server downtime. In short, they're not dicks.
