Set during the American civil war, War of Rights aims to bring players into the midst of several famous battles. Gameplay focused on realism will enable players to fully engross themselves into the ferocious combat of the era. Featuring several regiments, players will quickly learn the benefits of fighting together. An organized and tactically clever chain of command will be needed in order to succeed. Players will be able to enlist as different ranks spanning from Private to General of the army, each with its own distinct role and play style. Utilizing CryENGINE 3's sheer amount of power, getting as many players online as possible and thereby ensuring massive battles will be one of the priorities throughout the development.

Field report 6: First flyby trailer

Hello and welcome to our sixth field report!

Today, the WoR dev team has reached a milestone. We've just released our first trailer. The trailer is all about showing you some of the (mostly) complete scenes in the Antietam map as well as revealing our theme composed and created by Noah Saberhagen.

Please note that everything shown is still very much a work in progress. Without further ado, here's the first part of our Antietam flyby trailer!

Since the last field report, we've expanded the dev team even more. t.mclaughlin, a 3D enviroment artist and Jasmine, a 3D character modeler have joined us. We'd like to welcome them both! You'll see some of t.mclaughlin's work in the form of Pry House in the trailer. Jasmine is currently working on our first player model which we'll look forward to be showing you in a later field report.

We've launched our forum at Warofrights.com as well since the last field report. If you have any questions or just general feedback please visit us there.

Although we've got quite a few new team members the past few months, we're still looking for more likeminded and dedicated developers to join us. If you'd like to join please send your application to WoR@WarofRights.com

That's all for now. Until next time, have a good one!

Ya'lls environments and foliage and such are really shockingly good. It is really remarkable how realistic some parts of that video are.

I am curious (this question has probably been asked, but...) Will the players be able to choose what side to play as?

Thanks :). But yes, you will be able to choose which side to play on, unless some sort of balancing feature kicks in.

k, good.

Depending on where this game gains the most fans you may have to autobalance a lot :D

(nobody I know would be caught dead playing as a yankee.)

Your on the wrong side dude.

I think I would actually leave the round if I got autobalanced into a blue belly. Most Texans would.

Your avatar is of a confederate. But you said to "Charge the graybacks?" which would imply that you side with the yanks...

so which is it?

Was only teasing. :) I have a tremendous respect for both sides but my hero is Longstreet and in his corps I'll stay!

I am somewhat curious which side of the the story ya'll get (since you are not here in the US).

When I was very young I was all for the yankees, lincoln was praised as a hero and I thought it was all about slavery. Then I spent several years studying the Civil War and the issues that were really behind it and I am now firmly on the side of the Confederates, even participated in Civil War re-enactments for a few years. Eventually I got tired of studying it so much (it really just made me mad).

Most people in Denmark know just that; some war about slavery and Lincoln. Oh and they know Gettysburg by name as well. I won't talk about rights or wrongs but I will say that I admire the courage many of the fighting men had, especially the southern ones since they were practically destined to lose from the get go.

but do ya'll only know it as being baout slavery, or are you aware of the other issues involved?

hard for me to say since I've been so much into the war for so long, but I'd guess that most if not all would think it was about slavery and nothing else.

I see.

Unfortunately that is the case over here as well. Anyone who has not studied the war extensivily thinks that slavery was the only issue.

to be honest, I am somewhat surprised that people over there are even familiar with the war.

Well america is very close to many of us. Almost like we still feel the bond our ancestors created when they immigrated. ;)

well, I look forward to your game. I have never played a game set in the Civil War (I think most US companies shy away from this setting because of the controversy.)

I am anxious to see your weapon mechanics when you get to that stage. (I have fired a number of Civil War era weapons in real life, so it will be interesting to see how well you do)
