Set during the American civil war, War of Rights aims to bring players into the midst of several famous battles. Gameplay focused on realism will enable players to fully engross themselves into the ferocious combat of the era. Featuring several regiments, players will quickly learn the benefits of fighting together. An organized and tactically clever chain of command will be needed in order to succeed. Players will be able to enlist as different ranks spanning from Private to General of the army, each with its own distinct role and play style. Utilizing CryENGINE 3's sheer amount of power, getting as many players online as possible and thereby ensuring massive battles will be one of the priorities throughout the development.

Hello and welcome to our very first field report!


This is where we're going to give you the insights of the project in the future. I should mention that the information below is all subject to change, but I thought you'd like to know what exactly we're up to at the moment.

Field report 1:

We are currently working on producing assets in order to create our very first map, The battle of Antietam or Sharpsburg as the southerners called it. We've got a pretty good idea of what we want with the map design and which battlefield sites to include. Just as in the real battle, the confederates are on the defensive, spawning at two points; at the Dunker church and at the sunken road or bloody lane northwest of the lower bridge (or Burnside's Bridge at it became known as after the battle) to the southeast of the map. As you can see on the map of the battle, bloody lane was in reality, northwest of the middle bridge, in our version of the map however, the middle bridge will be replaced by Burnside's bridge in order to allow us to focus on the flow of gameplay and chockepoints a bit better.

The Union is going to spawn in North Woods, north of the dreaded Miller's cornfield as well as north of Burnside's bridge at Pry House. This should result in, with the correct mapdesign, two chokepoints of ferocious engagements; in Miller's cornfield and eventually at the Dunker church if the federals indeed pushes the confederates back and around the area of Burnside's bridge, which in itself will be a tough obstacle to pass and at the bloody lane. The winning army on this map, should be the one who manages the firepower of the flanks the best. Communication will be key for both sides in order to, for the CSA to constantly shift their numbers on the flanks to repel federal charges and for the Union to ensure that they'll have enough strength to break through on the weakest of the conferderate flanks.

That's the short breakdown of the map - we'll keep you updated with various new assets and screenshots in the upcomming weeks.

We're a small team at the moment, and would like to speed things up as much as possible. We are therefore seeking model and texture artists to join us, and help realizing War of Rights.
