Hexagons. The go-to for cheap (looking) sci-fi.

Hexagons are not a bad thing! Besides, they are in few designs in the game, and they were added by the artist; I didn't request for it.

They're bad when they're just slapped on to make something look "high-tech". It's lazy and stupid, and it can lead to things like that giant seam going up and down your character's back.

Fair, the seam is an issue. Regardless, the texture should be considered a WIP, since it will likely be changed later, but this is more than good enough for our current purposes.

Hexagons are a geometric shape, any connotation associated with them is as a result of individual associative memory related reactions, or inherent aesthetic interpretations. They have no universal function or result, its all about how they are played upon.

Hexagons, as imprinted clothing works well because it insinuates multiple angles of movement in the material, but they risk being generic. The problem isn't hexagons, as the loud mouth poster above tried to imply, its actually how they're executed. It can work, but I'd recommend the hexagons be a secondary structure in the texture. For one, it gives you a greater capacity to avoid seams, and for another, it looks much less plain. More depth to it all, and the complexity prevents the mind from fully loading it all into working memory. Stays interesting much longer.

I like the gloves quite a bit, and how they highlight the finger joints.

Thanks for all that feedback, and I totally agree. Like I said above, the texture will likely be revisited, but for now it serves its purpose. And, I love the gloves as well, but I am biased.

Hey Terran, I never knew Hexagons were such a detriment to gameplay and a game's quality in general. (Sarcasm)
Seriously tho, looks sweet but I'm all about the gameplay :3

Nothing so dramatic. They're just cheap, lazy, overdone, and take away from what would otherwise be a perfect model.

I have been very curious to see how ya'lls bipeds would look in 3d, but this is incredible. Nice work.

helmet profile looks a little too Halo-esque for my tastes, but that is a sick model.

Interesting, well Halo is definitely an inspiration for the armor sets of many of the main characters.

It is simply one of the inspirations, but all our designs are custom made. Halo is only considered generic now because it was so awesome when it was invented. And people love it because it is an attractive design theory.

If you have never played Halo then you have never truly lived, lol.

this game does not look like Halo except for a few details in the characters where you can tell that they were somewhat inspired by Halo.

At least hexagons in that size on soft clothing look kinda strange.
It's much better on the chest part, where the size is smaller, the material isn't deforming like on the arms and the direction follows the shape of the parts.

Beside that, the character is looking very good.
Wouldn't mind if this would be the main character.
