VVVVVV is a retro styled 2D platformer by Terry Cavanagh, creator of dozens of free games. You play as the fearless leader of a team of dimension exploring scientists who inadvertently crash, and are separated. The game involves exploring the strange world you've found yourself in, and reuniting your friends. VVVVVV explores one simple game mechanic: you cannot jump - instead, you reverse your own gravity at the press of a button. The game focuses on playing with this mechanic in a variety of interesting ways. The game is designed not to artificially gate your progress. In VVVVVV there are no locks, no power-ups, no switches, nothing to stop you progressing except the challenges themselves.

I was really happy to play and complete VVVVVV. Maybe the game doesn't look like that but apart from being a tough piece of platformer it includes quite fun plot and decent puzzles. Did I mentioned, that way of moving your character is absolutely rare? That's the way the game rolls and rules!
The old fashioned graphics in that case doesn't makes game worse, it makes it better!
And the soundtrack!! :D

Simple concept, challenging and addictive. Music is awesome. The only 'negative' I found was that the game was not really playable at 100% speed :)

I picked this up in the Humble Bundle and I absolutely love it! Some of the challenges in the game are very difficult, but that just kept me coming back for more. I also love that Terry features user-created levels on his blog (can't post the URL since I'm new, just search for distractionware). I've had a lot of fun with those.

You need a lot of courage to create in 2010 a game with a ao retro DOS-like look! The creators of VVVVVV do it and we can just aplause them for this great game! Tricky and sometimes extremly hard if you want to complete it 100%, it's also very addictive! But be carefull, after some hours playing it you could want to trhow your PC in the wall! Everything is done to stress you up - music, noises and a lot of scenary moving around...
