Verdun is the first multiplayer FPS set in a realistic First World War setting. The merciless trench warfare offers a unique battlefield experience, immersing you and your squad into intense battles of attack and defense.
The game takes place on the western front between 1914 and 1918, in one of the bloodiest conflicts in world history. The developers were inspired by the infamous Battle of Verdun France in 1916. The game includes many historically accurate features such as realistic WW1 weaponry, authentic uniforms and maps based on the real battlefields of France and Belgium.
The Frontlines game mode is unique in its tactical complexity. The realistic trenches are challenging to fight in and require tactical cunning to capture and defend. The Entente and Central Powers strive to gain control of frontline sectors. One battle you’re rushing the enemy trenches during an offensive battle in order to gain ground. In another battle you might be defending your recently conquered ground against an enemy counter-attack.
Players can choose to be part of one of the many squad-types in the game, each of whom have their own distinct tactical role. By working together with your friends, you can earn experience that improves the power and versatility of your squad. As you gain more experience fighting and get promoted in rank, you also earn Career Points which you can use to unlock specializations, weapons and equipment. The Rifle Deathmatch is a free-for-all game mode, where all players are pitted against each other in a thrilling contest of skill using only bolt-action rifles.

Verdun key features include:

  • Realistic World War 1 gameplay: Authentic weaponry with realistic bullet physics, skill based weapon handling, poisonous gas with a claustrophobic gas mask experience and artillery barrages
  • Tactical squad-based FPS: Unique squad leveling system, distinct squad types and roles, voice chat
  • True trench warfare: Real-time dynamic frontline with momentum-based attack and counter-attack gameplay
  • Authentic World War 1 setting: Typical WW1 music and style, historical battlefields set on the Western Front
  • Challenging game modes: Team-based Frontline and skill-based Rifle Deathmatch

We’re proud to announce that WW1 game Verdun has officially launched today! After more than a year in Early Access on Steam, the official copy of Verdun is now available on PC, Mac and Linux.

Check out the new Game Trailer: Youtu.be

We are excited to announce that the game is released with a new bonus map called Aisne; an area in Northern France which has seen some of the biggest battles of the early years of World War 1.

Years of dedicated hard work has finally paid off. During that time, Verdun was also being featured on Steam Early Access since 2013 where many big community driven improvements were made to the game. We had not expected the great extend of support received from the community during this time.

Over the course of the year, many good suggestions were made and put into the game. Whilst not every good suggestion made it in, we intend to add a few more in the near future.

To celebrate the release, several contests will be held including the first Verdun tournament hosted on Steamcommunity.com

Be sure to try Verdun and take the fight to the trenches of your enemies!

they're mainly focusing on the western front so far but if everything goes well there might be other fronts (like the eastern one) added later on

Right now our focus is with finishing the western front. I hope one day we can add the eastern and balkan front as well.

Guys, I'm begging you. This game is great but PLEASE make the machine guns less accurate. They're being used as automatic sniper rifles in every match, it's just so jarring.

I bought this a few days ago and so far, I've had a lot of fun with it so far. I'm really happy that a First World War FPS game has finally been made like this. The maps are great as well, the trench designs and layouts are complex and cool. My favorite map so far is the relatively heavily forested one which gives me the impression of it being early on in the war where the forests haven't been shelled heavily so far. It looks great. Overall, I'd say it's a good game.

I've seen gameplay videos where people just run into no-man's-land and everywhere else without getting shot to pieces. This may have been an old video from last year, but I would just like to say I would like to see more of a gridlock, where the defending trenches beat off most attacks, unless you organize a powerful, full scale attack involving everyone on the team. The gameplay didn't seem similar to how it really was back then.

dude you know what would make the gas mask even more realistic if the right eye hole moves to the center while aiming, that would be awesome.
