Verdun is a squad-based multiplayer FPS set in First World War(WW1) . The game is inspired by the infamous battle of Verdun in 1916.

The game includes historically accurate features such as true WW1 weaponry, historical maps based on sectors of the Western Front and authentic uniforms and equipment. The game immerses you audiovisually into one of the bloodiest conflicts fought in Europe.

The merciless trench warfare offers a unique battlefield for tactical squad play in the realistic Frontlines game mode, and raw gameplay in the rifle-deathmatch.

The Frontlines game mode is unique in its tactical complexity, where you are levelling different types of squads, each with your own tactics and roles. The realistic trenches are an extra challenge in the fight, where teamwork and tactical cunning are essential for success. Drive your enemies from their trenches and dominate the Western Front!

Verdun key features include:
Unique World War 1 gameplay: Authentic weaponry, characters levelling and realistic historical battlefields set in France and Belgium
Tactical squad-based FPS: Squad assembling and levelling
True trench warfare: Real-time dynamic frontline; momentum-based attack and counter-attack gameplay
WW1 atmosphere: Typical WW1 music, art, units, grim battlefields and an immersive user interface
Challenging game modes: Dynamic Frontline and rifle Deathmatch

A 100 years ago French, German and British troops while fighting in world war I held truces during Christmas 1914. They exchanged Christmas greetings, sang Christmas carols and rumours say that they played a few football matches.

In the game Verdun we will celebrate this remarkable event by reproducing a similar scene from December 18 – 25 2014.

In between your fearsome matches there will be a Truce event where you can find soldiers dressed for the winter, join football matches and throw snowballs at each other. You might even spot a Scottish soldier that will appear in-game just for this event.

We will enforce these in-game activities, by setting up some competitions where you can win Verdun Christmas packages and even offer a nice discount for your friends to join in.

  • 19 - 24 December; a YouTube Christmas Truce video contest for the best video about this event
  • 20 - 24 December; a Steam Hub screenshot competition for the best in-game Christmas Truce screenshot
  • 21 - 24 December; a Twitch TV giveaway for the Verdun streamers
  • 22 - 24 December; a Twitter competition for the best WW1 Christmas carol text twittered @VerdunGame
  • 23 - 24 December; a Facebook Christmas Card contest for the most entertaining Verdun best wishes card
  • Submission will last until the 24th 10am Eastern time (GMT-5), winners will be announced on the 25th of December 2014. More information can be found on Steam.

We hope you will enjoy the Holidays as much as we will!

Oh yes we are working, we're still aiming for that november beta.

The coding dept. has done work on shadows and the masterserver for the ingame serverbrowser which is operating as we speak. Artisticly we are making progress as some weapons are recieving a texture and, with the playermodels nearly completed the animations workflow is commencing. I think there will be some newsposts this month to come.

Ah lads you know that the dive to prone and the leaning like shown in RO:OST aren't realistic? So this is something for the Arcade, you need to change the anims then it would be ok.

Verdun will feature both the realistic Red Ochesta gameplay as the arcade cs/mohaa style gameplay, which can be selected by game servers. So one gameplay will be extremely realistic and the other very fast. The details about these gameplay types are currently being designed, so feel free to sign up and make few suggestions.

    Hello lads!

This looks quite awesome, so far, I was just visiting Fort Douaumont and Fort Vaux at Verdun Area, would be quite impressive and also it is a dream since walking through the trenches to fight for Germany on the Western Front. But can you tell me something is this an arcade runner with cross hairs or will this be more like Red Orchestra: Combined Arms, a real realism shooter, or will it be a semi-arcade like Red Orchestra Ostfront is?

    Keep up the work!
