Verdun is a first person shooter set in the first world war' Based on the amazing ogre3D rendering engine. The first versions of Verdun will feature 3 factions directly involved in the battle of Verdun' Find yourself in the epic struggle around the fortresses of Verdun in 1916 as either a French or a German soldier' Or see action as a rookie American marine in the Meuse Argonne offensive in 1918' Later on, Verdun will also include the British, Canadian, ANZAC and Belgian forces in the western front battles of the Somme, Ypres, Vimy and Cambrai' In later releases we are especially interested in the Italian front with fighting between the Italian and Austria-Hungarian forces in mountainious settings' The lesser known battles of the eastern front will not be forgotten; not to mention the Mesopotamian and Galipoli front' With the community growing and with more people on the team this shouldn't be hard to realize soon.

Today we introduce the United States as a faction. Firstly we have a new character model from Snipergen. It represents the "doughboy" also called "sammie", the United States soldier on the western front. Equipped with a number of eye-catching details like the Brodie helmet and the small box respirator (gas mask) slung around the neck. The United States launched their famous 'Meuse-Argonne' offensive on the old Verdun battlefield on the west bank of the Meuse river. Some fierce fighting took place during the last months of the war which reflects itself on the Doughboy.
Secondly Fabiodan and FaN have given shape to the famous Colt 1911 which most of you will recognise from the second world war. This was the primary side arm for the Doughboys on the western front.
Some hard months have passed our development, but we are heading strong with team multiplayer testing coming up next week. The game is finally pulling together and we hope to give you more frequent updates.

Looking good guys, but please cut back on the sharpen filter, it is very noticeable with the light halo around edges etc. A sharpen of 1 is best, 2 is sometimes too high, but it looks like you are up to 3 or even 4 on the dial there... lol... In truth, using that tool also brings out the faults with models/textures as well as showing the detail better. But that said, looks great. Nice textures and models...
Cool. Nice to see an update on this.
