Hopefully, this Black Ops report won’t be as mysterious as the previous two, since I’m going to be talking about a few things I know some people have been eagerly awaiting news on without having to frame this in a narrative.
Hi people, Hat here. You already know that I handle aircraft descriptions, but I also do the mechanical design work on the game’s assets- specifically, superweapons. Vector Thrust currently has around eight superweapons planned, not including the Leviathan or the Ziz- and this report will be about the two you’ll probably encounter soon after the Early Access release. These superweapons might feature in a campaign or two, and when you beat the mission they’re in, it’ll unlock a special Battle Scenario where you can face off against them with any aircraft you’ve unlocked so far. While the system to do this isn’t in just yet, we’ll be looking at it after Early Access.
First up, we have the Type 72 Airspace Denial Weapon- the ‘Condor’ railgun battery. This was the first superweapon we teased way before even the Leviathan was revealed, and it’s currently the closest to completion. Consisting of four individually movable colossal barrels mounted on a single rotating turret, it measures around 240 metres and is capable of launching steel slugs quite a distance in its current state- and I say current state because the thing’s not done yet, for reasons that you’ll find out later (In terms of development we need to model a base for it and fix some projectile issues, I think?).
After its completion, it’s predicted that the entire assembly will be able to rotate three times faster and fire three times further than its current capabilities, so taking it out now will save the corporations behind Task Force Sovereign Rights a big headache in the future.
The second weapon we have in the pipe is the Aventine Facility- an SSTO launch pad built for the purpose of supplying orbital construction projects (that too will be revealed in the future) with a steady stream of supplies. As with all hideously large facilities it inevitably gets taken over by some ne’er-do-wells and the player is going to have to put bombs where bombs should not be put. Out of all the boss encounters we have planned, this is probably the most exciting one to play through. In terms of gameplay, this will be much like the standard final bosses you’ve known and loved, only we’ve pulled out all the stops and blown it up to a massive, four part siege. Pity I can’t tell you much more than this, though.
Those are the two superweapons we have currently in production, and you can expect to see the Condor soon after Early Access, with Aventine coming shortly after that. Our other designs are sitting in the planning stages still being refined, but you can rest assured that they too will be just as cool and elaborate as the ones I’ve shown right now. Don’t jump to conclusions as well- just because these two are ground-based doesn’t mean that the rest of them are. Indeed, we have designs in the air, on land, and in water as well that we will be working on to push out post release.
Final preparations for Early Access are being conducted. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing Vector Thrust and these new foes in your Steam library soon.
Highest Rated (12 agree) 10/10
I am sorry I couldn't give it a 10/10 out of euphoria; but this is still an alpha; I am glad that such a ace combat pandora box has been opened; i was very pleased, really; and the only reason i cannot be more precise is the state of advanced sleep deprivation my brain is suffering from. The musics seem sometimes to be out of place and we can barely see what the entire game will be; but...... This is a godlike game. Really. I have never been so hooked on a game this "young" since years. Not even…
