Okay!

It is almost time, Vector Thrust will most likely release in the next 24 hours.

Before saying anything else, let me be clear, for release there were only two priorities, the Hollow Thunder Campaign and making a game as solid as it should be for a release. I mean with this, in gameplay and modding, and extra effort has been made to make the game adapt to missing textures, files or out of range values. To help the designer there is a new editor log that prints any critical situation but without crashing.

Of course, there is more new content in the release, but this has not been a priority. But as may know me, I´m always ready to add more content for VT, so there will be plenty of opportunities to add it later.

A game with open architecture like VT, there is no clear end for the development, but I feel a solid campaign and gameplay is what defines it as a full release

This world has been in development for a long time, I´ve seen some files that date back to 2007. (Would be interesting to find the date of the first file of VT, but that is a talk for another time)

Now is not the time for retrospectives, but I feel that the world could have been presented a lot sooner in the development. But fortunately with the release, we will now be able to see the world trough the perspective of the Hollow Thunder campaign.

Also! I almost forgot, the multiplayer has been fixed during joining and gameplay.

If you have played multiplier before you probably noticed a heavy lag on other payers. But that has been fixed! Actually it wasn´t lag! It was an issue in the code that made all NPC aircraft always move in the direction of the nose, this contradicts to the actual movement of the other player and that created a constant popping effect.

I hope with this multiplayer really takes off, because if it does I have greater plans for it.

But I´ll stop here for now, there is a lot more to talk about for the release, this is just the start. more reports will be available before the release has been launched.

So stay tuned!

Is there going to be update for the game this week ? I noticed some bugs when playing the game. such as the gun trajectories that guides the players to gun down enemies sometimes appears and sometimes does not. Also, does the fact that low-durability player aircrafts sometimes gets destroyed by missile in one shot (even on Easy difficulty) also true or also a bug ?
For the majority of the game, I enjoyed playing it. I love the visuals and the open-ended nature of it in which we can make custom missions ( though sometimes still buggy at the moment). The included campaign also nice. Though I was hoping there would be story cutscenes and voice actors for story-related dialogues.
Looking forward for the next update.

Update should be coming this Friday if all goes smooth.

Gun reticle only appears if you're close enough to the enemy aircraft for it to appear.

Difficulties are not set by the game. Difficulty only applies to campaigns, where the campaign's creator sets the levels for each difficulty. Easy in Campaign 1 is not necessarily the same as Easy in Campaign 2, if you get what I'm saying.

About low-durability being one-shotted on easy..

Well, how much health is it? I don't think the difficulty does anything yet anyway

It does, but only in Campaign mode, because that's the only place difficulties exist.

As per my century-old promise, here's the raw collection of Unreal Tournament 99 & 2k4 voicepacks in case anyone's interested. You still need to manually edit the respective .inis to put the voices in game however.

Bonus includes the infamous original UT 99 announcer voices, menu theme of UT2k4 and no-intro version of Quake 3's Front Line Assembly track 2/Civil Protection theme for BGM replacement. All files already in .ogg format.

Love the fact that the napalm bombs explode into massive moving walls of rekt that wipe out tanks and buildings instead of playing a funny sprite effect and then vanishing like Ace Combat's NPBs.

Finished both campaigns today, and the overall impression is great.

First of all - technical. No glitches or crashes. (One bug on the mission four of the new campaign, but I'm pretty sure it's a sripting error).
Overall difficulty is slighly higher that Ace Combat, but that's also a good thing. It's challenging, not impossible. Air-to-ship combat is the toughest so far, felt myself like Roy Focker or Alto Saotome, while dodgning those missiles.

A couple of notes though.
1) I beat the DDG-56s using "Kadushka" and "Udav" (dunno, how they're called in English) anti-missile manuevers I've learned in LockOn. A hint or small "manuever tutorial" might be needed for newbies.

2) A mission 4 scripting bug I've mentioned above. Enemy aces' planes cannot be damaged.

Still, couldn't they just bail out? or is that not a viable option right now since we're in alpha?

Gameplay-wise, ejection is impossible.

But, they could always obscure it with radio dialogue apon defeat:

"Dammit, can't control it! Bailing out!"

Or something along those lines

I am sorry I couldn't give it a 10/10 out of euphoria; but this is still an alpha; I am glad that such a ace combat pandora box has been opened; i was very pleased, really; and the only reason i cannot be more precise is the state of advanced sleep deprivation my brain is suffering from. The musics seem sometimes to be out of place and we can barely see what the entire game will be; but...... This is a godlike game. Really. I have never been so hooked on a game this "young" since years. Not even…

Lowest Rated (2 agree) 5/10

Pretty unplayable at the current moment, UI's too small, the game is also very buggy for me currently, every time I start the game it just likes to empty out all my controls, so I have to keep 'reverting to default' and resetting my modified controls over and over again. And also Desura seems to have wiped all my skins and modified content when I update (And also wipes all options again, including Display options) I understand that this is a Alpha version, but the game's bugs and problems are too…
