Legion was never our first name, you know that rookie?
I believe it was a rogue faction in Tolstoj that coined the name after we intervened in the nuclear conflict down there nearly fifteen years ago. Overton was there for that one: apparently our presence always followed a barrage of thermobaric ordnance from the ground forces the Legion had commandeered during the period.
They called us Legion because we always brought hell apparently and we did nothing to dissuade that sentiment toward us. It made people take the lot of us seriously from there on in.
Still, we always have a nice representation of the world through the ranks: really nails the point across that we will make you pay for your sins if you don't wage war the right way, regardless of who you are.
You see it in our emblem actually, each character representative of their continent... - ███████ ██████

"Peace through Power"
"Pay for your Sins"
"Finalis Solutio"
"Never Again"
"Pay for your sins" was the only one I liked in that list :P
As a Command & Conquer fan (and mainly Nod player), I'm biased towards "Peace Through Power".
