From the video flyawaynow posted in the forum, the radar shows a mine is deployed 40 seconds into the video. At 42 seconds, it detonates with the standard explosion effect.
This effect is much larger, especially when considering the distance between it and the F-15.
On further consideration it's probably a combination of airmine+afterburner+MAXIMUMLENSFLARE.
The airmines are actually repurposed cluster bomb entities, so a lucky scattering of bomblets might create an extra-big explosion.
