I was actually going to suggest going one step further and support server mods, so hosts could rebalance the entire game if they wanted to (and choose which community content to make available on the server). I see where you're coming from, warthunder's arcade mode is a cluster F**** but i think the situation can be improved with large maps (so there isn't always someone behind you) and complex, scripted mission so the opposing teams aren't always focused on directly killing each other.

Also the sociopaths thing reminds me of someone on Ace Combat Skies saying war kicked ass (ignoring Ace Combat's anti-war themes). I loled.

I'd love to eventually see something like a multiplayer coop against an RTS style commander though.

I'm not debating the "when," about multiplayer, just the "if."

Sociopaths?

Last time I didn't take it we had such a bad image.

Anti-war has always been the theme of Ace Combat as a series, but peace isn't a natural human state. To make peace, we have to make war, and war is something that existed before man as rock and water did. Before man it waited, and when man came it was the ultimate trade, waiting for an ultimate practitioner. War will exist before and after man, embedded in each soul as much as love and empathy will be. The ability to cause chaos is something we are taught as children to not do, and we will find those who peer through those barriers closer to their inner child.

At least that is how I, an ACS veteran, sees it. Wars will be fought for reasons men won't understand on every plain of battle, an inevitability. Sorry for being so melodramatic, but Ace Combat is along the same lieu.

That's another thing we will have to touch upon, themes and lessons to be taught in the game's stories. Perhaps stories you guys will put forward.

Do ethics and beliefs truly belong on the battlefield?
Does justification have anything to do with killing?
Is war a part of human nature? So is it worth fighting?

Think about it. But not too hard, we've got the game's core to work on first.

I didn't really think the whole community was that bad, just that one post earlier reminded me of that guy. Might have been an assault horizon kiddy, that game's only theme is "Cross into the Blue."

The internet allows people to say things that they wouldn't say otherwise, which is both a good and a bad thing. Did Acecombatskies have more than it's fair share? Probably not. I saw a few flame wars every now and then, but it didn't seem any worse than any other forum.

...though Assault Horizon discussions seemed more heated than the average on the rest of the site.

That is cause much of the AC fanbase on ACS HATES Assault Horizon. Same goes for another AC site I am on, Project Phoenix (formerly known as Electrosphere.info. Though, Project Phoenix is more of an AC database, with info on all of the games in the series. Project Phoneix can be found here: Projectphoenix.ipbhost.com
Both ACS and PP have Vector Thrust topics too.

What Nukes said. If you don't hate ACAH, chances are it was your first Ace Combat or you're a sucker for stupid shit. Though some people just legitimately like it.

I was considering getting it for PC just to try it out but then they had to add GFWL.

It's sorta worthless IMHO, unless if you want to try rippin' stuff from there (which shouldn't be too difficult to do).

Back on topic, what about non-essential and not-so-essential gameplay feature addition and/or 'what to fix/bugfix' roadmap?

Like engine nozzle animation, options menu, properly working gunsight, 'dem vapor trails/contrails, etc? Or those bugs which hasn't been fixed yet like player score doesn't count in deathmatch skirmish?

I think I played more than a few Air Combat games, and I do not like being called a "sucker for stupid shit".

I enjoyed ACAH, and I do acknowledge it's flaws. ACS has just been crazier and crazier, there is a reason I do not go there anymore. Expecially with AceCombat.net was my first Internet forum join.

That reminds me on how hilarious it was during April Fool's day back during HAWX's release (2009, I think?). Now I only see nothing but "FUCK YOU IM GONNA PERMABAN EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU" bullshit from the ruling regime.

Oh, and the fact that both Battlefield and CoD threads have significantly higher thread activity compared to other AC-related (even AC legacy) or even other flightsims or such whatnots have proven how 'wrong' ACS has become today.

The fact that Ace combat is a console game probably contributes to the nature of the ACS community. Even though they know there's a moddable AC clone on the PC they just sit around waiting for NamDai to entertain them.

Though I may be playing devil's advocate here, there are those out there that have neither the means, nor time to justify getting themselves a proper gaming computer. Given the general age of the fanbase, many are getting into the point in their lives where they have gone off to college, or are establishing themselves in society. As for ACAH fans, most are COD fans or a slightly younger generation of gamer (and as they are younger, generally much less mature, given their relatively little exposure to some of the greater breadth of what is available).

Maybe, but I don't think there's that many of them on ACS considering they also play games like IL2 Sturmovik.

Let's just say they only care of anything highly multiplayer-centric since most of them play War Thunder and World of Tanks on regular basis too.

Moreover, back on topic.

That's mostly just Yellow 13 and Sinner. Yellow 13 is old and Sinner is heavily disliked by most of ACS anyway.

On the topic of AC forums....
Projectphoenix.ipbhost.com <- That is the only AC forum you all need ;)
The database part of the site has info on pretty much every weapon and vehicle that has been in the AC series lol
Sadly the forums aren't as active as ACS. But then, maybe that is a good thing...

We will include a F-22A, but fans will have to make the mobius skin themselves. Legal issues and all that.
