Anybody planning on getting ACAH:EE this Friday?

Planning on *not* getting it this friday, if you catch my drift.
Cause Namco doesn't deserve my money anymore.

From what I heard, basically the only 'different' thing is the higher-res texture and nothing else. And region lock.

Zero buy.

Still, no matter how shitty is this, I'm hoping someone could extract the data the hell out, decrypt the mission structure files and whatnots and remove every TGT_LEAD/DFM-only TGT craps in it so that everyone could give Markov & Co. a taste of non-forced DFM kill.

Jan 30 2013, 9:42am Anchor

I tried AC:AH, and I must say, it could have been a nice game, if it dropped the helicopter missions and the DFM completely. The DFM being an absolute insult to the franchise, the fact that I wasn't being able to hit ANYTHING without going DFM made me do a simple test, I used a trainer to give me infinite shots and instant reload, then I selected the Nosferatu and... you can guess where this goes, right? I was literally SPAMMING HUNDREDS of missiles in the face of those red TGT planes and guess what? NOTHING hit. At. All. Then I go into DFM and lol they die easily, Fucking bullshit. AC:AH is pure cancer. It should never happen ever again. :flame:

Then I hop in VT and have ACTUAL dog fights that aren't bullshit, this is how it's done.

At least this works (textures got sorta messed somehow) :V

Heh, of all AC games, put the worst one on PC... Namco makes me wonder a lot...
AH isn't a bad game itself, but it is a bad AC game. Trying too hard to tap into that modern FPS fanbase imo. Only way I would ever consider getting the PC version (I already have the PS3 version) is if the game becomes editable. Namely getting rid of the scripted DFM stuff. Also sucks that the DLC planes that the PC version has also can't be used in the story mode. That is a rather odd oversight...

I am still impressed at how 99.9% casualfags still call it 'good, very good, extremely good' though.

What you don't realised V3KTT is that Namdai is paying those 99.9% casualfags good moola to say that. -_-

I have to admit that's every corporate's so called business strategy (which is I hate most).

Well, let's say they throw bigger money than the main fanbase itself, as always. :|

food for thought: since Capcom trying to port RE:Revelations to consoles and PC, if it sells well, would Namco try to at least port Cross Rumble to console & PC as well (ACAH porting attempt seems to be driven by Dark Souls PC version's success)?

Back on topic, I assume someone could use 3D Ripper to rip the plane models (as in my previous post) and try to put it on VT (don't know what should be done with the polycount however)?

Eh, I've only tried CFA-44 and Shinden so far. Gotta try with the other things soon. And figuring the actual texture works.

FYI, that's not direct rip, I'm using 3DX Ripper for this job.

More like "I know you guys will ask 'Y NO NEW AC ON E3'?', don't worry I haven't forgotten about that yet but sadly Namco hasn't gave me a greenlight to make a new proper (read: non-AH) Ace Combat game"

Should $camco greenlight him to create a new non-F2P/P2W/AH Ace Combat, let's hope M$ (FYI they're going to TGS too) doesn't cleverly bribe $camco to make it Xbone exclusive (as per what happened to AC6, I think it's the first step of what killed the franchise)

I hope so because the classic controls do not work well on the DS (You control your rudder with the D-pad, which is right below the thumbstick), forcing me to use the kiddie controls instead. There were also some framerate problems (to the point where 1 second in game was 4 seconds IRL during the fortress intolerance tunnel), is that happening to everyone or just on my 3ds xl?

Hey guys, just stumbled upon this:

Blog.am-net.jp

My Google Translate-fu is quite lame, but looks like it's indeed Namco's work and if you take a look at the final picture, you'll notice the HP/reload HUD portion looks suspiciously similar to Ace Combat, which means.....

update: From what I gather it sounds like more-or-less arcade counterpart of Assault Horizon. Heh.

Make me wondering why the heck they didn't rename Assault Horizon to Sonic Storm from the very first place to avoid massive backlash as actually happened. le sigh.

User Posted Image
update2: If you take a look closer, there's a larger plane listed in the kill-tally. Looks like ACJA's Spiridus? And the plane seems indeed CFA-44.

It's even better since they doesn't use Ace Combat name for it, could be even more if it's turn out to be Assault Horizon/DFM simulator done right. Ha.

Ace Combat began its life as an arcade-only game to begin with, which is quite relevant. Here's more detailed preview BTW:

Why does everyone have a massive hateon for DFM? Yes it's got it's problems, but to rip it out for the next AH installment is not helping. I thought the DFM was a nice addition, if a little(Okay Majorly) overzeliously pushed. If anything they need to ditch the AC-130 missions. They were crap in Cod, Crap in Hawx2, and super crap in AH.

Because it's obviously forced.

It wasn't DFM per se that was doing the forcing, it's that the game turned certain DFM fights into what amounts to a cutscene. DFM was interesting otherwise, as it broke up the monotony of simple turning fights. I do wish that a proper balance between DFM and standard gameplay could have been reached though, as DFM was much faster than a regular dogfight in ACAH. It's like creating a QAAM with the range of an XMAA. No one would use SAAMs anymore.

I heard ACL/CR version of DFM was 100000000x better and not entirely forced, correct?

I played it, it was kind of interesting and really helped because of the problems with the 3ds controls, but I'd rather not have it in the next AC game.

Yes its so much better becuase you don't get forced to use it, Its based on the aerial combat mechanic from Sky Crawlers for the Wii (Project Aces developed it).
