Controller Problem: no thumbstick axes recognition (Games : Vector Thrust : Forum : Support : Controller Problem: no thumbstick axes recognition) Locked

Vector thrust seems to be unable to recognize any sort of axial based input from my controller, this includes both thumbstick movement and trigger depression. All buttons, including the d-pad and clicking the thumbsticks work. I've tried looking at the ctrlconfig file, but without an example of how an axis is properly mapped it's a bit futile. Can anyone tell me the kinds of values that go in the ctrlconfig file so I can try and find my controller's axes through trial and error? Any other suggestions with regards to getting my controller working would also be appreciated.

What brand and model is your controller?

I am using an xbox one controller with this: Github.com custom driver meant to imitate an xbox 360 controller as part of my ongoing experiments with Vector Thrust and wine.

Hmm the problem could be the custom driver and the fact that you're using Wine which isn't officially supported.

My current theory regarding the issue is that there is a difference in how inputs are indexed in a mac and windows environment. I draw this conclusion from an experiment I ran using Mark of a the Ninja, when playing the mac version there were no controller issues, however when I played the windows version in wine the button mappings had been scrambled. The X button preformed the functions the game claimed to have assigned to A for example (thumbstrick did work properly by the way). This in turn leads me to believe that the reason VT isn't recognizing the triggers or thumbsticks is some sort of out of bounds error which I might be able to fix manually by adjusting the ctrlconfig if I understood how values were entered into it better.

I'll forward your predicament to TimeS to look at. :)

Hey there sorry about the late reply. Been really busy.

Here is a controller config that I use based on the AC layout with a wired Xbox 360 pad. Feel free to try it. It might work with the Xbox One controller too.

Just simply download and cut and paste in Vector Thrust's root directory and overwriting the existing one. Just be sure to backup your ctrlConfig file. Hope it helps. :)
