Epic Games VP Mark Rein has posted an update on porting UT3 mods to the PlayStation 3:
We're very close to releasing an update to the Unreal Engine 3 editor, that comes with the PC version of UT3, that will allow UT3 mod-makers to cook their mods into the required PS3 format. We've been doing some internal testing and we're hoping to expand to a wider group tomorrow or Friday. If all goes well then we should see the update released next week which is what I expect will happen. Obviously the process works, as we put out a few mods before Christmas and people seem to be playing them, but it is the update to the editor that we're testing.
If all goes well, using the tool will be as easy as clicking an "Export to PS3" menu item!
And it [i]is[/i] as easy as clicking a button =]
Forgetting BBCode doesn't work on here XD
This is great news...
Thanks for the heads up.
Woo! Clicking a button! YEAH!
wow cool!!! How about the xbox 360, anyone knows something about mod support for the 360 version???
Difficult to say. It's quite possible that it may be possible to import them to your Hard Disk a similar way to how you do with the Ps3, however I get the feeling that with Microsoft's strict control of Live, that just like the Ps3 counterpart, they'll have to be downloaded via PC.
There will be none.
I don't believe that's the case. Epic will definitely want to be promoting custom content on the 360 platform. The code is already in the UScript, after all.
Cool, it'll make putting mods on the PS3 so much easier.
It'll make it _possible_. :-p
Perfect for Ren 2007
Well at least they're making something easy ;)
wootness
This is music to my ears!! I don't know how many times I've been asked about PS3 support by our supporters and how soon we can make it happen after PC release etc! Now i can look forward to giving some solid answers at long last! lol ;)
Thanks a million for the info!! :)
