Underrail is an old school turn-based isometric indie role playing game that focuses on exploration and combat. It's inspired by western RPG classics such as Fallout, Arcanum, Neverwinter Nights and System Shock 2.

Story

The game is set in a distant future, when the life on the Earth’s surface has long since been made impossible and the remnants of humanity now dwell in the Underrail, a vast system of metro station-states that, it seems, are the last bastions of a fading race.

Features

  • Great character customization possibilities through stats, skills, feats, items and more that allows for many different play-styles
  • Tactical turn based combat that utilizes weapons, energy shields, grenades, psi abilities and more
  • Vast underground world to explore: city states, abandoned building complexes, natural caverns, secret areas and more
  • Elaborate item crafting system

Hey guys, the new version has been released. For a preview of what's new you can check out this and past four dev logs.

Underrail - Rail Crossing Underrail - Rail Crossing
Underrail - Rail Crossing Underrail - Rail Crossing

You will now be able to travel a bit through Lower Underrail, either on foot or by train, and explore the town of Rail Crossing and the surrounding areas and face new types of enemies. The main story of the game starts in earnest with this patch, but I'm not going to spoil anything regarding that in this log :).

I also did a lot of polishing of existing game mechanics and added some new ones, as well as did a fair amount of economical re-balancing. After these couple days of internal testing I feel quite content where we're at now in that regard and while there surely be some more tweaking done in the future, I don't expect to do any major work on the existing mechanics in the future. With the future patches we will mostly be focusing on adding more content at a faster rate, which will as always include more areas, quests, enemies, items, feats, etc.

Anyway, have fun guys and let us know what you thought of the changes and the new stuff. Cheers.

So, I found this dog in The Junkyard, K2, and was wondering (With as limited spoilers as possible) if it's possible to A) Make the dog not growl at you somehow (perhaps some item?) and B) Is he related to a quest in some way (which sort of ties in with A).

I guess it'd be too much to hope for him following me around, right? I haven't found any hints of companions thus far.

EDIT: Oh, and by the way Styg, wanted to thank you for the game. Typically don't thank people for games I buy, because, ya know, I'm the customer, but this game? Something I've been wanting for ages. So, thanks Styg.

I'm glad you're enjoying the game and thanks for your support.

Don't know if I can help you with K2. It sounds he really doesn't like you. :P

But I'm such a likable mind destroying junk mogol! Uh, little spoilers, I guess. So,

SPOILERS

Is there any other mission beyond the recovery of the motherboard for the drill? Main mission, that is. Seem to be at an impasse, so I'm sort of just assuming there's nothing left to do.

For me, all future updates I'm considering expansion packs/DLC. The game is in a complete enough form (For me, at least) that I don't mind playing it all the way through now, and seeing what is added in later updates. It's really a fantastic adventure.

Cool, i will check the demo today.
Was just thinking destructible walls would give tons of additional tactic possibilities.

Just FYI i think i want this game even before playing the demo :D
