It is the year 2084. You control a secret organization charged with defending Earth from a brutal alien enemy. Build up your bases, prepare your soldiers, and lead them to victory in turn-based tactical combat.
Amazing game, one of the better turn-based tactics games I've played in recent years. Very well balanced, interesting lore, lots of maps and a well-built campaign. Can't wait till I get started with multiplayer too! In short, you HAVE to play this, person!
IMO this can be cosidered as one of the best and most complete Open-Source games existing at the moment.
The only thing it is missing (yet?) compared to the old "X Com"-games is destroyable environments, which is just a small downside though, as it does well offer the fun and charm of the old game in a modernized way.
Nice turn based-game inspired to the x-com series. Unlike most other x-com-style games it mantains intact the original spirit of the title. It has also nice graphics and music. Not to forget it is completely open-source and costantly under heavy development. Love it.
Very, very fun to play, and is really worth a download. Also, its free, so thats a plus. The only things i could suggest it would be the ability to manipulate your surroundings (ie. blow up a wall with a missle launcher), aswell as randomly generated maps, like in the original x-com game.
Being an Xcom fan, I saw this and thought it looked great. The version here on Desura is certainly a nice update to its predecesors, but issue I had with it is that when loading the first ground mission the game would consistantly crash. I did manage to play one round of it, but it crashed during the next. Maybe others will have better luck with it. I'm checking out the official game designers version to see if more stable.
I normally dislike fan remakes or fan games in case of series where people seem to be desperate to find alternatives to original series, but this one is good and different enough from original to feel like another game despite having all things that made original good.
