Takes the first game's beloved triad - the powerful knight, the swift rogue, and the crafty wizard - and puts them into an all-new adventure filled with more action, more puzzles, and the introduction of online support for the series's popular cooperative 3-person gameplay.

If you have ever wanted to mod Trine or develop your own epic platform adventure you can now do just that.

Whilst there is little supporting documentation at the moment, the Frozenbyte guys have given the full in house tools they used to make the games, here's what they say.

Frozenbyte wrote:The reason we’ve held off releasing the editor to the public before has been quite simple. It’s pretty difficult to use if you don’t know what you’re doing, and there’s *very* little documentation or tooltips.

The Frozenbyte Editor is a very diverse tool. This is what we use to make games like Trine and Trine 2, and it’s based entirely on our own technology. You can now edit existing maps, make new maps and do all kinds of things with it. If this sounds like fun, go a head and play with the features and experiment!

So did we make an easy-to-use version for everyone to enjoy? The answer to that is…not really :) Instead we’ve opened a wiki page and provided some very basic instructions on how to use our editor. It’s an open wiki after you’ve registered, so anyone can edit and post information, and we hope that people will start to share their knowledge with everyone. We’ll also be updating the wiki ourselves and tracking that all the instructions are correct and up-to-date.

So what are you waiting for follow these instructions and jump in.

Working on a Trine or Trine 2 mod / total conversion or addon, feel free to submit them to the listing & promote your hard work to the world.

Don't forget, Ubuntu 64bit distribution requires 32bit compatibility libraries to be installed for this game:

apt-get install ia32-libs libopenal1

Just been playing this game...beautiful and amazing. Thank you for the Linux support Frozenbyte. The game runs very well on my Kubuntu 12.04 system.

I have just finished Trine and I didn't think twice before purchasing Trine 2 in the 50% off sale. I just wanna say thank you Frozenbyte for bringing Linux support to such a beautiful and fun game. You now have another loyal customer for at least the next 10 sequels. =)

For the fullscreen bug in Ubuntu, install CompizConfig Settings Manager and check "Legacy Fullscreen Support" under Utility>Workarounds like opossums said earlier.

And if you have Bumblebee installed, do the following:
1- Run gksudo gedit /usr/local/games/Trine2/bin/trine2_bin_starter.sh in terminal.
2- Add optirun to the script:
#!/bin/sh
cd /usr/local/games/Trine2
optirun bin/trine2_linux_32bit

Hey, if anyone else is having trouble setting a gamepad to work with Trine2, check the "Trine 2 Local Coop" thread out on Fronzenbyte forums until the bug is fixed: Frozenbyte.com

What about an "Collector's Edition Upgrade" like on steam?
I want to have the Collector's Edition but don't want to buy the game twice.
It would be nice to have someting like this if it's possible with Desura.

So there are updates (I did not have it installed from Desura before so I did not see), but it stil says "This is the beta version" here. Is this the finished release or not?

I just got a response from Frozenbyte: "Yes and no... The game for the most part is certainly not beta, but we are having some troubles with the new multiplayer system and that can still be classified as beta. Moreover, we plan to do some big PR push on Linux when we go out of 'beta' so... "
