Tremulous is a free, open source game that blends a team based FPS with elements of an RTS. Players can choose from 2 unique races, aliens and humans. Players on both teams are able to build working structures in-game like an RTS. These structures provide many functions, the most important being spawning. The designated builders must ensure there are spawn structures or other players will not be able to rejoin the game after death. The overall objective behind Tremulous is to eliminate the opposing team. This is achieved by not only killing the opposing players but also removing their ability to respawn by destroying their spawn structures.

This is primarily a balance tweak release, but it also contains a few bug fixes. The data gleamed from 210 hours of play was invaluable in making the decisions for 1.0.1. In a short time we should be able to tell in what direction things have moved balance wise, and by how much. With a bit of luck it should be a significant improvement.

Barring any major show stoppers, this will probably be the last release of Tremulous that requires Quake 3. After a short break I'll dive into knocking out a preliminary standalone version, so that we can determine the amount of work involved.

Lets look at the facts:
NS is inspired by Gloom. Tremulous is inspired by gloom.

They both have extremely varying gameplay.
Have you played them both, because i have. Tremulous feels extremely different than NS.

And the final factor for me playing tremulous:
Tremulous runs on Linux natively. NS does not. Its Open Source (Meaning i can contribute fixes, new features, and actually become a part of developing the game).

Play both, and comment back. Im not going to be trolled.
Im sure youll be pleasently supprised at how different the gameplay is.
Better yet, play gloom once, and comment back.

Do some research next time before you say something like "OMGWTF!!111one NS!!!!!"

Well, the previous comment might have been a but rash, but still, tremulous is a great game and doesn't deserve to be called a rip off in any way

play this game more religiously than any game I've ever payed for. It is just. that. good.

And to clear something up real quick (since people are too lazy to click timbo's link):
No, trem did not steal from NS. Both ideas came from Gloom (a Quake II mod) ....Nor do I think AVP was a major influence on the design either...
