Tremulous is a free, open source game that blends a team based FPS with elements of an RTS. Players can choose from 2 unique races, aliens and humans. Players on both teams are able to build working structures in-game like an RTS. These structures provide many functions, the most important being spawning. The designated builders must ensure there are spawn structures or other players will not be able to rejoin the game after death. The overall objective behind Tremulous is to eliminate the opposing team. This is achieved by not only killing the opposing players but also removing their ability to respawn by destroying their spawn structures.

We are holding a winter mini-tournament!

With the dates being tentative, we will be holding a tournament from Sunday, December 8th to Sunday, December 22nd. We have chosen these dates so that the tournament will end right before the holiday season and/or finals. The summer tournament was a surprising success given the youth of our game, and we look forward to holding at least two tournaments a year. Ideally, one large one in the summer and one smaller one in the winter.

What is the format?

Unlike the summer tournament, this will be a pick-up tournament. This means that after everyone has registered, team captains will be chosen from those that are participating as players. In a set order, the team captains will choose from those that have signed up for the tournament. Each team will face each other once, and there will not be a final round. Instead, the winners will be determined based off a point system, using the same format as the summer tournament.

Who can participate?

Anyone, of any skill level. It doesn't matter if you're in a clan or not, as clans won't be participating as whole groups. Those that desire to represent their clan can wear the clan tags along with the team colors. We welcome anyone, including those new to our game. Just make sure you can show up.

When are the matches?

On Sundays at the same times as our weekly development games. The tournament matches will be replacing the scheduled games. We will be holding three tournament match days, on December 8th, 15th, and 22nd. If you show up to development games to begin with, you might as well register yourself as a player.

Which gameplay will be used?

The current Unvanquished gameplay. We have diverged significantly since the last tournament, and it would be best to play a few matches against bots to familiarize yourself. Of course, it mainly relates to team construction and expansion, so if you're good at shooting or biting things, it probably won't be too different for you.

Where can I sign up?

Here, in this thread. Make sure to share this post with your friends! It will be a lot of fun, and it will give us even more valuable feedback on our developing gameplay design.

See you there!

To all people whining about Tremulous copying Natural Selection:

STFU once for all! Natural Selection was released AFTER Tremulous! Tremulous was inspired by a Quake 2 mod called Gloom. Say whatever you want, Tremulous did NOT copy anything from Natural Selection. Natural Selection actually copied from Gloom and Tremulous.

LOL these guys copied Natural Selection, good game though, but this is just a clone game. They should make something more original next time.

Ahahahaha what a little kid you are you should stick to playing CSS and so on.

Tremulous ripped natural selection when trem was released before NS.

Do you realize that tremulous came out recently as a STANDALONE before that it was a fing mod for quake 3.
Also do you realize that Quake 2 Gloom predates trem and NS for years and it is the same gameplay humans vs aliens with different classes.

Whats next?

Quake 2 DDay normady ripping Day of Defeat?
Action quake 2 ripping CS

Maybe Team Fortress for Quake 1 copied Team Fortress Classic for Half-Life? It's just ridiculous, how dumb are people...

Pretty fun game! Only downside I see is that vanilla tremulous doesn't get updated. You have to manually search for patches and mods scattered around forums. Community is very nice and helpfull though :)

Just a Natural Selection Clone, since NS came out way before this, back when NS was just a mod for Half Life. Now they are making Natural Selection 2 a stand alone game! Be sure to check that one out! Much better than this!
