A dynamic horror survival with a mixture of haunting experiences and unpredictability.

Features:

  • DLC Content: Bi-weekly DLC drops for Tormentum that add new maps, stories, features, mechanics, hauntings, and even more. All DLC content will not cost anything and will be entirely free to the player. Players can expect 2 to 3 new locations in DLC drops. People who pre-order Q.U.A.D will get DLC content up to a week early.

  • XBOX 360 And PS3 Controller Support : Tormentum will launch a full XBOX 360 and PS3 Controller support, along with the native mouse and keyboard.

  • Scare System: A totally new scare system allows you to experience different hauntings each time. Adding new triggers, loud sounds, multiple, heart-stopping scares, and more. This makes the game more suspenseful and memorable, to make sure that no one will miss anything. Trust me, you won't.

  • Flashlight (camera light): Creates a bright, short-ranged light to help you see in the pitch, dark blackness. With this dynamic flashlight system, your flashlight works for a certain amount of time then starts to flicker on and off, creating an eerie feeling. Hold down a certain button to give it a smack and get it working again before you die, er I mean, lose your train of thought.

  • Static Night Vision Camera System (SNVC): The Static Night Vision Camera System (SNVC) allows you to view strategically placed cameras around the map to investigate happenings in multiple places at once. This makes it easier to skim over a part of the map before you enter. Think of it as a sneek peek of the "scarefest".

  • Amnesia Note System: Notes containing info on the back story of the location will be found in every map just as Amnesia: The Dark Descent does. A few easter egg notes can be found in special places in every location. Notes can only be read once so read them thoroughly.

Tormentum Wallpaper #1

Welcome ladies and getlemennnnnnnnnnnnn! I hope you're having a FANTASTIC day! If you haven't noticed already, we've changed our title. This is no longer Q.U.A.D, this is Tormentum. Q.U.A.D was a working title, and don't say it wasn't. We building this game back from the ground up, but since it's basically the same game with the same outlook with a simple name change, why not build it over Q.U.A.D?

Tormentum(Latin for "Torment". Yes, I know "tormentum" is used as a noun here, but the Latin verb of "torment" is "torquebit" which, to me, sounds like the name of a 2D Puzzle Platformer) is a indie survival horror where the objective of the game is to survive each map for as long as possible. The longer you survive, the more points you earn. Each map will have a certain point-cutoff to complete that map, with extra point bonuses hidden around. The game will also feature a dynamic haunting system filled with jumpscares, apparitions, voices, and so forth.

A Linux version of Tormentum will be released on launch! There will also be Linux version of the Betas released along with the Windows and Mac versions. Your feedback and comments will get these version update as much as the Windows version does. We plan to release ALPHA 2 for all three OS.

Changelog:

  • Changed game title!
  • Reworked flahlight system.
  • Added reworked footsteps.
  • Started work on the haunting system.

I plan to release the game sometime in late 2013 to early 2014. If it gets finished before then, I might release it earlier. When the game gets finished depends very much on your feedback from playing the Betas, so please download, play, and comment your feedback on them! Thanks!

having a problem with the linux version of the alpha where wasd is backwards. Basically w is back and s is forwards. There a way to fix that?

Try changing the controls on the launch menu. If the problems persists, try using your arrow keys.

There wasn't a launch menu. The arrows keys did work. Also, I had to change the QUAD_Data folder to Data for the game to work. Kept getting an error saying it couldnt find the data directory.

Are you sure you didn't extract everything in the folders?

pretty sure I extracted everything the way it was in the zip file. Only launched once the Data directory was renamed.

All you have to do is extract the launcher to your desktop and make sure you data folder is also in the desktop so it ends up looking like this:

I'll make sure to rename the Q.U.A.D Data Directory for ALPHA 3 so you won't get the error.
