Throw Me To The Right Place : Game as Environmental Education for Cleanness of World, where this game aim to raise awareness of garbage problems and environment sustainability. Because of environmental sustainability is the one of the biggest problem that world facing and one of eight Millennium Development Target of United Nations.

on September 7, 2009, in Jakarta, waste production reached 6,000 tons of waste per day. The composition of the waste that is 55 percent organic and 45 percent inorganic. Of the 45 percent of inorganic waste, waste paper reaches 20.57 percent, 13.25 percent of plastic waste and other waste remaining. The problem is, there are still many places landfills that mix all kinds of garbage.

And based on Indonesia Law Number 18 Year 2008 on Waste Management, the public and private mandatory must sorting the garbage, and the government must manage the waste. The law contains 49 articles that not only the rights and obligations of every citizen in waste management. Is residential areas of commercial, industrial, public facilities, and social well be responsible for the provision of facilities for waste segregation itself. The Government shall encourage residents to bring discipline to it that segregation could be done within one year. But this does not seem too concerned.

However, this still can not be realized in most areas. Either because of inadequate disposal sites and communities that still lack awareness. It became one of the common cases that happened today. This is where we wanted to take part in the growing self-awareness from an early age to design a game that targets individuals who will shape society in the future, the young generation.

Develop by My Electrical Romance, the game development group in Universitas Gadjah Mada, the Indonesia’s higher education institutions that based on Yogyakarta. Where in this game. Players assume the role as the first person to be invited to dispose of waste in trash bin, but not carelessly dispose of waste in right trash bin, the waste should be disposed of are divided into four types, compost, paper, plastic and glass for its next processing also this game show the impact of the garbage and show the brief information and fact about garbage and environment.

Diobong playing Cat Mario

This is not exactly Throw Me To The Right Place, @diobong play Cat Mario when waiting the student come to Computer Laboratory. hehe

Syauqy explain about how to play the game

@syauqy also come to encourage the student to learn something from this game.Yeah, we using approach the “magic of game” to make these kids aware with their environment and start to keep their environment with put the garbage in the right place suitable to its specifications.

as we know, the citizen and private mandatory must sorting the garbage, and the government must manage the waste. However, this still can not be realized in most areas. Either because of inadequate disposal sites and communities that still lack awareness. It became one of the common cases that happened today. This is where we wanted to take part in the growing self-awareness from an early age to design a game that targets individuals who will shape society in the future, the young generation.

By means of using this media, more educational values ??can be given. Education about the environment in this game will we designated the primary school age children (ages 7-11 years old).Because according to Jean Piaget, children aged 7-11 years are cognitively concrete operational stage. In this stage, children are able to think logically and know anything based real idea or fact that is illustrated in graphics. Children are able to perform logical reasoning from what they see, to understand the concept of conversation, organizing objects into a certain class hierarchy (classification) and are able to put an object in a particular sequence (serialization). In this game, children are expected to be able to understand the concept of selecting and disposing of waste in place based on the reality condition. This game contains elements of classification and serialization, where children are expected to be able to dispose of waste that fit with the type and threw it to the right place. Children will be easier to understand the concept of throwing waste in place according with what they see in the game.

Not only the students, our partner @widhihapsari from Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada also interested with this game :P.

In the process of thinking, at this age children are more likely to understand the concept if they observe directly through the examples given. As the concept of learning modeling revealed by Albert Bandura.Albert Bandura explains that learning through the abattoir is one of the fundamental changes in the behavior of other people, individuals and indirectly studying changes in these behaviors. The process that occurs with model learning include the attention, retention, reproduction and motivation. This game will attract children attention how waste should be treated, then the child will remember it. Children will return to reproduce what was in his mind to dispose of waste in right place. Until eventually the child will be motivated to properly dispose of waste in accordance with the classification of types of garbage. In this game, hopefully the child will imitate what they do in the game, the pick and dispose of waste in place. The process of learning by using this model will be much more enjoyable and easily understood by children.

After completing this game demo, these kids are pose in front of the camera.
