The Real Texas is a top-down, 3D action/adventure game with a focus on interesting storytelling. In addition to a gunfighting element, the gameplay revolves around novel situations, puzzle solving and exploration.
Like a lot of other indie devs out there, I take inspiration from certain classic games. For Texas in particular, the classic Zelda games and Ultima VI have had a large influence, The inventory, object interaction, and NPC dialog systems are all heavily borrowed from Ultima VI.
More than anything else, what I'm trying to do is create situations that will amuse and surprise the player, and at the same time tell a meaningful (and somewhat allegorical, as you shall see) story.
I've put together some new video for The Real Texas.
Things are coming together quite well for Texas. Features have hit critical mass and gameplay is evolving and blossoming quite nicely.
Also: I'm going to need more alpha testers sometime in February, so if you want to have a really early look at the game and help make it better, let me know!
Thank you MODDB!
