Featuring tons of multiplayer fun fitting for absolutely anyone, The Legend of The Artifact is an unique 2.5D platformer with fighting elements for up to 4 players! TLoTA takes inspiration from great games such as Kirby, Smash Bros, Legend of Zelda, Mario and more!

"The Legend of The Artifact"

"Many, many years ago, a precious golden treasure, only called The Artifact, brought peace to the land and all it's people, from a place called the Sanctum. However, it was stolen from the people by a strong evil monster called Hypokhrisis. The artifact had great power, and could therefore bring peace, but it could also be used for great evil. Being brung so close to evil like Hypokhrisis after all the time in peace, the artifact created smaller fragments of itself with a small amount of power in each. Four heroes appeared with each their piece, and saved the land from Hypokhrisis and took back The Artifact to the Sanctum, recovering the land back to it's once peaceful state. A long time has passed since then, and only one of the four heroes still remain today."

The Legend of The Artifact is a 2.5D platformer with fighting elements for up to 4 players. An evil wizard has stolen the golden treasure known as The Artifact, which keeps the land in peace and harmony. The legend says that four heroes saved the land last time it happened, and now four new heroes will have to stop the wizard and get back The Artifact to it's shrine, The Sanctum.

You will play as one of the four heroes; Matt, Chip, Aria or Huey. Play alone or with friends and advance as a team in order to recover The Artifact and defeat the wizard!

TLoTA is estimated to release sometime this year.

Hi everyone!

TLoTA is back in development once again. I'll explain whats been going on and whats new, and also say a bit about the nearby release date!

First off, development stopped for a while due to a huge lack of inspiration. However, while I have not been working a whole ton on TLoTA during this time, I have been working a lot on my other projects! I figured I could say a bit about them as well.

The first project I've been working on, is another game made solo by me. So far it's 100% my work at least.

Cover artwork

It's called "Galactic Rangers", and it is very inspired by the Metroid Prime trilogy. You go around areas, exploring planets, defeating enemies and collecting items. There are also of course a lot of bosses and minibosses in there as well. For you guys to get a feel for the game, I'll post a few artworks down below!

Nico concept art

Thats Nico, he is the main character who you play as through the whole game. You can play with more players in co-op mode as well!

Squad A concept art

Thats Squad A. They are important characters who you meet early on in the game.

Emperor Muorthem artwork

And lastly, that is Emperor Muorthem. He is basically the bad guy, I can promise that he won't prove to be your father at any point though, and neither will he have heavy breathing sound effects, just in case you were wondering.

Before I go to the next project, here is the link to the IndieDB page for the game. It even has an available demo, so be sure to check it out!

Also, here is the OST for GR so far. I've made all of the tracks myself! Youtube.com

The other project is called "Adventure of Sol". I'm developing this one together with iSolsticeDay, the creator of Story of Alexia. It draws a lot of inspiration from Legend of Zelda as we're both fans of the series.

As you can see, AoS also (just like TLoTA and GR) features a co-op mode! Possibly with up to four players later on. Oh boy!

AoS features a lot of different races. All of them are together in the picture above!

There is no available demo of AoS just yet. Here is the IndieDB page for AoS though:

I've also made some OST for this one as well. So far this is also made by me: Youtube.com

As you guys can see, I've been doing a lot of work (iSolsticeDay too) lately. I am back now however, so I hope inspiration keeps up until I can finish TLoTA completely.

I just finished the ending for the game, so the whole game can be played through now. Still, I gotta fix up a few more extra things such as more special moves and animations for a few of the characters, a little more stuff for The Arena (still missing boss rush etc) and some more stages and possibly items for Battle Mode. I also gotta fix up a few of the towns a bit and possibly add a few more secret extra levels.

There is one cool new addition to TLoTA though! I just added difficulty levels into the game yesterday. You can change it in the Options menu at any time, and it'll of course be available in the next demo version.

We have difficulty levels in those other projects already, so it'd be a shame not having it in TLoTA as well. It's a challenging game after all, and as many must be able to experience it closer to their skill level. Or if you simply want a challenge you can play in Hard mode I suppose.

Steak item

There is also a simple addition I've done for fun! Most of you hopefully know about the Steak item already as I have shown it and talked about if before. However...

Golden Steak item

...Now there is the Golden Steak as well! While both of them are rare, this one only exists in a very few amount of levels. Instead of making you 15 times larger it makes you 50 times larger! Just took an hour to implement this version of it though, so it's purely for fun!

Before I end this post, here is my DeviantART account. You can see all the artwork I've made (concept art, fan art, etc) there!

Here is a neat example of fan art I made recently. Zero Two has actually been a big inspiration fro TLoTA in several ways...

Also, reminding everyone to check out the TLoTA OST!

That should be it for now. Thanks for reading!

I found out some bugs/glitches with the new update.

1. There is a way to get infinite Scorecubes in the town. If you just talk to the man in the shady alley way, you get one million scorecubes.

2. The text is off to the left on the signs within the 3 training rooms.

3. When you click to play the song "Dojo" the song menu closes itself.

The first one is basically just me forgetting stuff. I gotta give myself tons of cubes to test the shops, I knew I'd forget to set it back again afterwards. xP

The text is basically just another piece of the GUI I've forgotten to fix up for different screen sizes. I'll get that fixed.

No idea why it would close itself, but I'll check it out. Probably just a simple error. ;)

But since you already got so many cubes... Buy the sock. Do it, trust me. xP

I've found some bugs in multiplayer. I was playing the game with 2 of my friends, we were playing on the Icy level.
1. I jumped from a higher part of the map onto one of my friends, and we got stuck inside of each other and no one could move after that.

2. For some reason our characters always moved towards the right without us touching the joystick.

3. On the Icy level, if you walk all the way to the left, you will fall out of the world and just go straight down.

I will post more bugs that I find within the new demo.

I have taken a look at the controller issue. I might have fixed it, as it still works perfectly fine with a Ps3 controller, and it sounds likely for it to work with an Xbox controller as well.

Sadly I have no Xbox controller to test it with, the reason I knew of the issues from before was because a friend of mine brought his Xbox controller with him to play.
I guess I'll just wait until next time he brings his controller to test if it works or not.

I'm guessing you guys used Xbox controllers? The Xbox controllers have some really odd things going on with them in the game. I have no idea why at the moment. I'm still working on that.

The stuck thing doesn't make sense at all. Players can't collide with each other. You guys must have done something else to trigger this. I have noticed that on some occasions nobody can move for some reason though.

Thats just a missing invisible wall. Thats no issue. Just don't go to the left for now. :P

Sorry if those controller issues are ruining the experience for you guys, but there is nothing I can do about it just yet. I will see if I can't fix it sometime, hopefully in the next update at least.

I have a question actually, are two people able to play the campaign together, and if they are, what would be the controls for the second player?

Kirbypwnage Jun 29 2014, 6:09pm replied:

You can play story mode with up to four players. However, you need one controller for each player.

You can also play PVP against each other on various stages that are linked to the story. In PVP you can also change a ton of settings like the gamemode, amount of lives, item spawn frequency and the item switch where you can turn of items in general or specific items.

So I'm not sure if you were aware of it, but TLoTA has a pretty advanced PVP mode in it along with the story mode. Should be able to give hours of fun if you have the controllers for it. ;)
