Are they anything like the dromes from the Wee Free Men books?

sorry i just can't stop comparing these creatures to "The Myst" or "Silent Hill"
inspirations?
Can't remember the monsters from The Myst much, but weren't they bugs?
As for the enemies, I always said that I was inspired by Lovecraft & Silent Hill, but also by Francis Bacon (the painter:P), Lautreamont, surrealism and of course, last but not the least, my own experience as a medicine student ;)
