Yes, I've returned from my week long retreat in the heart of the Himalayan Mountains. And I've got great news, this is going to be a pretty big update so try to stay with me.
Bit Dungeon has always been a placeholder name, we wanted to move past it and just get working on the core of the game itself. But now its time to really come up with our own name that incorporates the main idea behind the game we're currently working on it, but any suggestions are welcome.
The team now has more active members, in the art department I am joined by Finian and on the programming side of things Felix now has Dan helping him. Since we are all working in our spare time it may be hard for us all to coordinate but these new additions to the team will really speed up development.
Up to this point the games layout was mostly top down, we've done some talking and decided to make it more of a top/side view. it looks a little better and will give sort of a 'fake' 3d perspective to the game. This means we have to add some new walls and other art to make it more believable.
We went over the level building system in an earlier development post, but to reiterate we used paint and specific colours then saved it to a .png and ran it through Felix's engine. This worked to a point but a real level editor is really going to speed up development.
We have opened our website to Alpha registering as you hopefully already know, but we are now working on a forum to allow our fans to keep in touch with us and each other in a much easier way. We hope that anyone who regularly reads our updates and follows us on Indie DB will join us when the forum is ready.
