System Shock 2 WinXP/2000 Fix
Mar 11, 2006 Patch 2 commentsThis patch will allow players with Windows XP/2000 to play System Shock 2 without problems. ***NOTE: THIS IS NOT a NOCD/Crack! You still require the original...
System Shock 2 begins with you being unfrozen from a long cryogenic sleep aboard the Rickenbacker, a security spaceship assigned to tail the Von Braun on her maiden voyage. Apparently, the Von Braun has been infested by an unknown alien race and has converted the crew into relatively intelligent zombies. You must gather bits of audio clips along the way to figure out what happened to your crew and, more importantly, how you can rid the ship of the aliens. Rely on your skills training from either the Navy, Marines, or OSA to guide you on this difficult path. This 3D title offers unbelievable graphics, as the Thief engine is utilized to provide mouth-watering environments and character skins. The astounding graphics, varied RPG elements, and fluid action make this title worthwhile.

I know Irrational or someone is supposedly making SShock3 right now, but I would absoultely looooove it if someone would start a SS2 mod for Source or Doom 3 or something.
In fact, I think I'll start right now!!
I have bypassed this great game for some reason.
Afterall I have to say that thief engine is one of rare engines that truly opposes the legacy of quake.
And don't ask me what I mean.
I haven't played SS yet, but I know this:
System Shock was made in 1999...
Battle For Middle Earth was made last YEAR. Umm, yeah. There's probably gonna be major differences as far as graphics, gameplay relevancy, and all of the above go.
Great game, this.
I have actually deleted Paisodon's posts, as he was a spammer and flamer who only came to modDB for those purposes.
I played that coop mod a long time ago with a friend, and it was awesome. Really, really buggy. Crashed frequently during level changes.
high yall i came across very nice mod for this jewel :) u can find it on Fileshack.com
hope ure ok with linkin to fileshack though :)
This was simply the best game ever...dot
"I dont think this game is so good. I mean it might have been good in 1999. But its a piece of dog poo in 2003."
what are you talking about, so every old game is a piece of shit? youd better hate half life then.
all because the graphics are outdated doesnt mean the gameplay is bad, in fact its completely irrelevent.
the gameplay is still way more sophisitcated than alot of games out even today.
It's amazing how frightening it can get when you're in one of some hallways with many doors in between, and you're just waiting there listening to doors opening in the distance... You know whatever is opening the doors can't be alive because there are no survivors, so you're listening to some fiendish enemy who will eventually inevitably find you :P So you listen all tense as the opening door sounds get closer and closer until all of a sudden the one next to you opens and in plods a maintenance robot who starts yammering about how the ship is so dirty and then explodes mid-sentence in your face!
/me gasps for breath
The only thing I didn't really like was the somewhat dull and repetitive level design. It was great level design, but after the 3rd or 4th level of it you began to wish for something else (I got stuck before I could get to the allegedly cool biologicallish levels later on)
been playin this one and im only on the 4th deck of the ship. old but still way fun
