Survivors of Ragnarök is a city-building-management-survival game about chickens.

Lead your company of dwarfs into high mountain passes, deep into dangerous forests, scorching deserts, and into the dark underbelly of the earth and back.

Unique and Quirky Creatures

Encounter Bizarre and dangerous creatures from dwarf-eating-tiger-snails, flying pigs, bishop-fishes, and Chickthulhu (100% our idea and totally not suggested by an annoying community member named Thoktaz).

Yeah we know, it's awesome.

Gotta Catch 'em All!

Unlock dozens of unique dwarfs only to die by your hands moments later.

Single Player Campaign

With all the dry humor, charm, wit, and satire you've come to expect from us bundled in an epic historically accurate retelling of the events after everyone's favorite end of the world scenario (next to the zombie-apocalypse, but trust me we have that covered). Expect to be taking part in such epic and grand historical battles such as the Battle of Basing and the Battle of Svolder.

Bellow we have provided a historically accurate depiction of the Battle of Clontarf on April 23, 1024 (your gonna have to trust us on this one guys, it's legit).

Beautiful Hand-Drawn Pixel Art

Now this might just be our personal bias, but we believe we have some pretty sweet pixel art. Each and every pixel lovingly hand-drawn and animated frame by frame.

Biomes are a pretty big deal in procedurally generated games and they will be a really big deal when it comes to Survivors of Ragnarok as well. I've thought about setting up the biomes to be small chunks of the game world, but that simply left a lot to be desired.

Now what if each biome was a completely separate game world? That's what we have in mind.

Take a look.

Now, we spent a fair bit of time working on the isometric engine for this new world and there is still plenty to be done.

For one thing, this new isometric world needs to be randomly generated. These photo's are just some stuff I put together by hand once the engine work was finished.

After that, the saving and loading of each game world needs to be done. It shouldn't be an incredible feat to accomplish, but it will require some interesting file structures. (Think about how many maps will need to be saved in a 50x50x10 isometric game world!)

Finally, it is important to note, that each biome will need it's own generation algorithms to insure every biome has it's own unique look and feel. That very well may be the most time consuming task of them all.

So, although we don't have an update for you quite yet, we have big things in the works for you.

I hope you look forward to the new Biome system as much as we do.

as for not responding to negative reviews, dev? You wouldn't recieve so much if you just send a simple update explaining what's going on. By no responding to the negative critism you are justifying people anger towards the like of progress.

Besides if you release product, critism is almost guaranteed. The best you can do is adress it and maybe actually take some of it to consideration. Its quite clear you weren't prepare to make this game or bit off more than you could chew.

Alright time to comment for this project. I bought this game last year cause the concept interested me very well and seemed to be a good buy.

Fast forward to now and so far i have not seen one improvement hell, the stupid "alpha" runs even worse than before. My computer, built literally so i can max on Metro and Crysis and this game can barely chug. Do you guys even know what the hell optimization is? It would take at most 2 ******* days out of your lives to tell us at least you know what the problem is. I

You guys aren't obviously serious about this project anymore, theres nothing to proving otherwise that im wrong, any dev taking this long to respond back has usually already given up. I already dealt with it with Kickstarter projects, its ******** you cant take a minute out of your time to make even a cruddy post on progress. You graduated from college? whoopie, sounds like you should know how to code better than a 12 year old by now, instead if this was ever part of a crucial project for a company you chumps would have been fired long ago.

Im saying this now: Close the project down, say sorry to everybody, end it so we can continue our lives and fund better stuff, stop wasting everyone's time on this.

Telle, the best you can do right now is just report this to Desura. This is why I like steam better because they will eventually take down a dead project/ broken game. Its clear they don't know how to manage their time and are just wasting every one else time with this.

Oh and by the way, Craft The World was released recently on steam Early Access

I say for building their game in a year to their alpha release and getting Greenlight approval, it has extremely more features available than your crap tech demo.

if the devs haven't speed up their developement yet, they surely should do that! craft the world appeared some days ago on steam and is already more feature complete and better looking. was waiting to buy SoR but now there are better alternatives.

dear devs, if you want to stay in the competition you should hurry up and delover some more advanced and bugfree product to your customers!

We're still working on it. I'm sorry you feel it's broken, but we intend the alpha to simply be a preview of the features, not a full game experience.

I dont "feel" its broken - IT IS BROKEN! Did you try to install it yourself? I guess not ...

If the current version doesnt work, backup the last running version until you fixed it!

Another thing - you guys didnt response FOR MONTH! Thats not how you should treat customers.

We haven't seen much PR about the current critical bug which doesn't allow you to install the game even though you still are allowing it to be purchased. I understand your position garrett with the position that it is in Alpha and still a work in progress. I feel having something that doesn't even allow you to run the game or install while still allowing new buyers with tiered pricing without awareness to what they are about to buy.

True, everything you said is valid. Something else that is valid, buying into a Alpha game without doing any research to it's current state, or even reading the comments which obviously state it's progress, pretty much makes you liable for everything you get.

So stop bitching, wait, it will be awesome.

Braverx Nov 23 2013, 5:47pm replied:

Telling people to stop bitching isn't a way to conduct business. People are obviously concern why this game has not been updated for 4 months. I can understand a month and week but 4 months? That reeks with unproffesionalism, shadeyness. Alpha funding is a trust based relationship and if the other side isn't coming through with their promises what does that say about them and the whole concept of alpha funding? I simply lost any interest in this game due to the devs.

Games like this is the reason why don't alpha fund much anymore.

I'm not conducting business in the comments section, sir. All you and others like you are doing, is inferring and implying the most negative outcomes possible. Blizzard doesn't give a ****, you wait till it's done or don't.

Nobody is forcing you to Alpha fund, so get off your cross. The developers have already stated, when they have news to divulge they will do so. So yes, in this case all your doing is bitching. Unless you got pictures of them using our Alpha funds to pay for strippers?

Saying it is in alpha implies there is some form of playable game which is a false. Devs that cannot even fix a basic issue such as the game cannot download or install and yet still let people pay for a completely faulty product are nothing more than scammers at this point.

The fact of it is this. It is a product being sold for money. It does not not work. It should be locked from sales until issues are fixed.

I would hope the devs had the integrity to not purposely sale and profit from something which is not even working as a demo.

We'll you're all a bunch of haters, who like to be be mad about nothing. I'm about 99% sure most of you bitching never even purchased the game.

Hey smartass you can click my name and goto the games tab and see which games I own.

Bitching? So tell me. If you ordered a pizza and a empty box showed up and they asked you to pay for it still. Would you be upset? Not a great analogy but its hard comparing anything to digital game sales.

Point is the devs knew they could not work on it much anymore and knew it does not work at all and they are still selling it and getting money for it. It is completely dishonest and a scam. If this was on steam it would of been kicked off till it was ready for sale.

Haven't been playing it for very long, but it is certainly amazing right now, despite being a bit buggy and lacking content! If you like the sims, minecraft, adorable pixel chickens, and dwarves who climb blocks like newborn kittens climb stairs, you will love this game!

FrenchRiceGames, I am disappoint D: This game is in development for almost one full year. The last updates added gimmicky nonsense like pumpkin patches and candy, rather than adding to the base of the game itself. Other games in a similar state of development offer much more actual gameplay and potential. (Project Zomboid, Towns, heck even Kenshi) Reading the update logs makes me feel like the developers don't even care about the game. I mean sure they pump in tons of self-made pixel art of things…
