After moans and complains, we decided to implement additional cam modes. The default mode is free dynamic cam and the game has been designed to be played using it. However, some gamers will find it satisfying to have the ability to play with lagged cam and fixed cam. Here is a demonstration of all the three modes:
Also we have released new promo video of Episode I. Once it's uploaded to youtube, you will be able to see it. Visit our "corporate" website and youtube channel for updates.
I actually like all three. Fixed cam is a lot like an RPG. But lagged cam seems easier on the eyes. Thanks for the optional camera views
Schweet.
Nice. Good to know you guys like it!
Fixed camera for the win \o/
The camera was the main issue I had with this game.
Fixed camera is a definite favorite!
You should almost make that the default one, as I think that is the one most people would prefer.
Linux support == Win. Bought. :)
Nice to see the many options... Something for everyone. :)
Having seen the fixed camera mode, a thought occurred to me... I would love to see some kind of control mechanic like in Alien Swarm (free Steam game). I'm not sure how this would affect the mechanics of the game, but direction keys are used for forward/backwards/strafe and the orientation of the player is controlled by a mouse cursor on the screen. The character is aligned to the cursor.
This allows for targetted smart bombs or grenades to be launched on physics based trajectories (think throwing grenades at the mouse pointer) and very fast turning. Steel Storm definately doesn't need this and it might detract from other game mechanics, but I personally find it extremely fun and would love to see it in other games.
