Welcome to StaudSoft's Synthetic World 0.1! This is the first release of my Open World Sandbox Game. It allows you via a seed to create a unique landscape with mountains, oceans, trees and beaches. Although it looks like a normal game engine, everything in the game is based on voxels. So everything you see can be changed. You can cut down trees, build a house or dig into the ground!

I got the fire algorithm working. Now you can set a tree or a house in fire and it burns down. And as a side effect I improved the speed of the generation algorithm. Check out this video:

The next step is to make the water flowing.

As I mentioned the version 0.2 is finished. But before I can publish it I need to take care of the german bureaucracy. The founding of a company takes in germany usually 2-3 months. And I also need to learn how to make double-entry accounting, deal with the finance authority and so forth. This means a lot of work which hasn't anything to do with the actual game :-(. I will keep you up to date.

This is a feature of the upcoming 0.2 release. If you want to download the current version just check out the following links:

Already implemented in v0.2 :-). The game is written in C++ but I am using Java as the programming language for mods.

System Requirements:
OS: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 (32Bit or 64Bit, 64Bit recommend)
CPU: 2 Ghz (Dual-Core)
RAM: 1 GB Main Memory (2 GB-4 GB recommend)
OpenGL 1.4 Compatible Graphics Card
Keyboard/Mouse
HDD Space: 4-20 GB

This is only for version 0.1. Version 0.2 will need a more decent graphics card to be able to use the new rendering system. But of course I will not remove the old rendering mode.

I'm always really impressed by your updates. This engine is starting to look really good and really unique. However, do you think it might be possible to blend the voxel engine with regular polygon-based technology? I think Water needs overlays to actually look good at the shore where it cascades.
The resolution of the voxel engine seems too low to achieve a realistic look there. It's great to see all the updates and to watch this engine grow so well! Keep it up :)
