StarFire was created with the intention to provide a tool to explore the depths of the universe and its secrets in a playful, educational, and thought-provoking manner. In order to do so, the player must design his spacecraft in such way it fits his individual needs and play style, and most importantly, withstands the dangers that linger in the dark. As such, StarFire implements models based on science, and may also cross the border between reality and the paranormal.
I'm on yer page, spamming yer inbox with sum game progress!
This targetor I've just finished will be an essential part of any spacecraft. It sorts targets by distances and has a maximum range which can be made dependant on the installed sensor unit. You do not need to manually install it as console to be able to use it, as it is the case with most of spacecraft function displayers. If you wish to extend sensor capabilities, you can add a radar type console with an improved radar on your ship.
Looks useful! I can foresee there will be a lot of information spaceships will need, and different ships will need different kind of info. An ability to customize the HUD for each ship would be very helpful.
Yes. I have planned to let the player create their own HUD design. HUDs will mostly be displayed in form an interface HUD (such as the targetor here) and in form of consoles that display simple easy-to-read information.
If the word "console" is not clear for you: they refer to an element usable in the ship editor. Take it as sort of LCD display you can create your own cockpit design with. These consoles can display different types of information, i.e. Tank status, general ship status, engine status, inventory etc. In game, consoles give you simplified information (given that they will be rather small) and if you click on a console inside your cockpit, it shows an actual interface containing more detailed information.
If you wait 2 more releases you can customize your cockpit like this (if everything goes as planned)
That sounds amazing! Can't wait for the release! :D
