JO is full of flaws, it's ugly (despite what most people seem to think) and it's lacking in SP gameplay.

But saber duels... oh my!

Jedi Outcast is probably the best current Star Wars game. If some old games such as Dark Forces or TIE Fighter were put on the same level graphically as JO, I don't know what I would say. But just looking at new games, Jedi Outcast does beat them all. It is the best-looking Star Wars game available and it lives up to the name of the Jedi Knight series. The lightsaber and Force combat are unparalleled. However, just about every other weapon is pretty much useless =/. Velocities seem like bullet-time, and in combination with really hyper AI, most shots seem to miss. From looking at the code, it seems like they spent 100 times more work on the lightsaber than other weapons. Another thing that bothered me was the lack of different NPC models/multiplayer models. There actually seems to be less NPCs in JO than MOTS and there are no multiplayer-only models in JO. The staple Navy Trooper (who's been there since Dark Forces) is missing, along with a sizeable number of others who have made appearances in previous games. JO does have some new characters though, so all is not lost. Overall, it's a great game, definitely worth playing . Keep in mind I'm reviewing it from a developer's standpoint and not the average gamer's, so I'm probably more critical. Also I'm mainly listing the shortcomings, which, when compared to some other games, are quite few. If you do find yourself agreeing with me, however, don't worry! We will have fixes for JO's downfalls in Rebel Operations ;).

single player action and story is fantastic, except for the "re-recieving your jedi power" bit. multiplayer is good but looses it's shine rather quick online, all the gametypes available just feel like a typical deathmatch...
