Hello Star Wars: Battlecry fans and Happy Star Wars day!

It’s been exactly one year from our announcement that we are moving to the epic Unreal Engine 4. A lot has changed since you first started witnessing our progress and watching everything slowly take shape.

Because it’s May the 4th as you already know, we think that this is a great moment to celebrate and reward your great support over the years with something special. We’ve put a lot of work on this and hopefully you will like it.

It’s time for our first gameplay video showing what we’ve been up to in Unreal Engine 4. Keep in mind that this is in a heavy WIP stage and a lot of things are missing. Everything you see is subject to change. So take this more as a proof-of-concept, the rest will be filled, polished and tweaked as we continue to make progress.

Now a few screenshots taken during our gameplay and the video itself.

Enjoy and may the Tr4iler be with you.

DICE's battlefront has much lesser content than the original battlefront 2:

you are our only hope.

Way to listen to biased propaganda from 2 months ago. Since then, new details have emerged, including some gameplay footage. DICE obviously has a different vision for the future of battlefront and they aren't afraid to stray from the path. So far, I've got a good feeling about where this is going to go.

maybe some of them are wrong but from what i seen from hoth gameplay video:
1.AT-AT moves on the rail path, you can't controll their movements
2.maps are much smaller than battlefront 2.(hoth map in battlefront 2 is much larger)
3.luke is too overpowered. he could easily kill stormtroopers beyond him by force push.
4.speeder pilots can much easier destroy AT-ATs.(auto pilot is doing the job of toppling the AT-ATs

1.) They are objectives essential to the flow of the game. Other vehicles, however, will be freely controllable, such as those AT-ST's.

2.) You can't assume that at the moment, all we've seen was some pretty cinematic "gameplay" with everyone conveniently placed to create action at every corner. The star-fighters had plenty of breathing room though.

3.) Who says they died, Luke's main focus seemed to be against Vader and I'm sure they balance was a big point of focus with heroes. Again, it's too early to say that we've only about 10 seconds of hero "gameplay"

4.) I don't understand a word you just said.

About half of that's false(the list) but a reboot is supposed to add to the original game yell at me all you want but what is this adding to the franchise 40 player max and pretty graphics? I will allow you to keep your opinion but please listen when you hear battlefront it means something epic Star Wars battles across the galaxy over multiple eras it sets the bar extremely high so I just wanted something that took that farther like both of the canceled battlefront 3s were doing.

Agreed. This Battlefront game is not a Battlefront game. It lacks the main features. Only two factions, no classes, no space battles, no clone wars, no galactic Conquest and no instant action. It will be a fun game, but it won't be a Battlefront game. I will certainly buy it anyway xD

But let these comments be about Battlecry!

With all of that said, I can't wait to see any more updates the amazing team behind Battlecry will show us in the upcoming months!

Finally, some rational thinking going on here. It's nice to see someone have an open and reasonable mind in the midst of all of this.

The canceled Battlefront looked like it wouldn't be anything different than the two PSP titles. DICE in fact, is adding to the franchise in a much different way than most people realize. They aren't going along the expected route. They are creating their own experience but that isn't to say that they are abandoning the certain flare that made Battlefront what it is today.

what are you saying ?
that battlefront had ground to space combat without loading screen.
I think it's better to not discuss it anymore here because this comment session should be about Star Wars Battlecry not Dice's poor Battlefront. and I apologize for starting it.

Both PsP Battlefront titles also had that feature. All I'm saying is that just because they aren't doing what we expect it doesn't mean it can't be a great game. Sure when we think of a sequel, we think about adding cooler and better features. Who says DICE isn't going to do that. What they want to do is throw the curveball, and add their own little twist in it to keep things fresh without getting rid of what we all love about Star Wars. It just really bothers me how people really love to hate everything DICE does. If the game will end up sucking then ok but we can't say that yet.

It also makes me upset that Free Radical's battlefront 3( wich they made with their crappy Haze Engine ) looks much more promising and better than DICE's battlefront which has been made with frostbite engine.

Me neither but it looks to linear no alternate routes or sniper areas, crowded is good on large maps not linear ones and power ups that was an awful idea for any game.

SaltedQuailEggs Jun 16 2015, 12:49pm replied:

Again, they were trying to get the most cinematic and action packed scenes in there so we can't really tell what the final map will be like. It has to be somewhat large though considering all the room the fighters need to move around along with the AT-AT's. I don't really mind the power ups, they'll come in handy when fighting heroes or vehicles.

I mean every time power ups are used in games those areas become the focus really ruining the fun factor.

Just an idea I had - will you guys be adding in some sort of command system that will allow teams to be more organized? Just a thought... Though I know that there won't be THAT many player on the battlefield (at least at first :D that's right I wouldn't mind if 64v64 battles were possible), but it could be useful.
Thanks so much awesome SW:Battlecry team! :)

A chatbox seems feasible and beneficial, especially when you look at battlefront 2, though a command system would take more work. By command system, you mean a way to let other players know a primary objective, example: Take A point, correct?

PiGuy May 29 2015, 11:34am replied:

Pretty much, yeah. And some sort of chain of command I suppose, so that there isn't a situation where everyone has given conflicting orders to everyone :D Effectively, limiting who can give orders to who.

Please don't add one it would be a waste of time and energy especially if it didn't work.

True - but remember, it's just an idea :D

Sorry I am just a person who likes to get straight to the point so I am not intentionaly being mean. The reason I think it's not a good idea is I am a loner when it comes to gaming and when something like this happens I don't want to lose the game for everyone because I wasn't in a team.
