Hello Star Wars: Battlecry fans and Happy Star Wars day!

It’s been exactly one year from our announcement that we are moving to the epic Unreal Engine 4. A lot has changed since you first started witnessing our progress and watching everything slowly take shape.

Because it’s May the 4th as you already know, we think that this is a great moment to celebrate and reward your great support over the years with something special. We’ve put a lot of work on this and hopefully you will like it.

It’s time for our first gameplay video showing what we’ve been up to in Unreal Engine 4. Keep in mind that this is in a heavy WIP stage and a lot of things are missing. Everything you see is subject to change. So take this more as a proof-of-concept, the rest will be filled, polished and tweaked as we continue to make progress.

Now a few screenshots taken during our gameplay and the video itself.

Enjoy and may the Tr4iler be with you.

Even thought there are only four planets that does not mean there will be just four maps to play on. I read somewhere that each planet will contain two maps so eight maps total. The original battlefront did not have space battles or real campaign. And having just 40 players per map isn't that bad. Most of the servers in SWBF I and II only had like 20 players tops. I do admit that the lack of Clone Wars is disappointing at least but I still believe it'll be an amazing game

20 players top? On every Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2 games I have played there have atleast been 32vs32. Even in XL mode there is like over 100 players (bots) on the map...

20vs20 (DICE have said its the biggest mode), if it is the biggest at launch then that is a long step backward in my opinion. They could atleast add 20 bots to those 20 players on each team...

Yes very good point, also that would make 9 with the free "Battle of Jakku" DLC. There's still hope for a clone wars era though. They've said "No" at launch but that doesn't mean never. They're also planning on a lot of post-release development so that means new planets...and hopefully clone wars era.

The first battlefront had two maps per planet with a few exceptions I think he figured we had played the original battlefront that this game is supposed to reinvent and remake. As for it being amazing who here wanted Star Wars call of duty?

First of all, you have to remember that this game is essentially being made completely from scratch so NEVER compare it to that recycled piece of garbage known as "Call of Duty". Quoted from the DICE GM, “Most battles are planetary battles, so our focus right now is to make sure we only get that right. The core of Star Wars battles — the Endors, the Hoths, et cetera — you want to take that to perfection. You want to do it right”. Now do you want a rushed Battlefront with 20+ locations or a perfect first impression from some of the most well known battles in the original trilogy. They have a lot of pressure on their shoulders and the must get this right with the limited development time they have. Once they have it down, they'll get to other features and maps.

Made from scratch ha ha ha it is a bf4 modification that's all they have had enough time for as for more later it won't be freely added like it should have been. I have news for you bf3 and bf4 were call of dutys nothing more that is what battlefront is going to be, a lot of pressure ha them all they worry about is how to cut more stuff out in order to save money meaning more profits.

You have no idea what your talking about, and you also have now idea how much work they've put into the game. The second you said "bf4 modification" I just spit all over my monitor. Please take your biased hatred somewhere else or actually find real evidence to back up your claims.

Let see first off why would you remake everything when you have an entire game with coding and all it would save time and money they had a maximum of two years to produce this game not much time to do everything over they I am shure made all new animations, the coding a lot of the coding was probably reused very easy to do seeing as they use the same game engine.

Yes I imagine they did reuse a minimal amount of resources from previous games but you have to look at it this way. They are being watched by millions of Star Wars Fans worldwide. Would they want to release a Star Wars Battlefield 5 or Battlefront. People will know, and they will be humiliated if they resorted to your so called "bf4 modification". That's why they decided to essentially remake everything.

That's what they say to protect their damaged reputation but seeing how neither of us have any real evidence this argument really doesn't have a purpose.

How many players can you have in a map? More like 64 or 20? And are there separate ground and space maps or are they united? I mean can you take a ship from the ground to space and vice versa?
Thanks for the answers in advance :)

Just a quick question, do you plan on releasing an SDK and making this opening source for the community? And would you be fine with other people creating mods for this once it's released?

Yes we probably will release an editable version(if we can) of the game and now with the UE4 being free it will be easier to distribute it without the need to make custom editor. Source code we haven't decided if we will include yet but even without it people can make blueprint scripts and maps using the content made and even import their own content.

Why don't you just release a version that runs in the unreal engine so basically what I mean is release the game in the engine that can be used to import stuff into the game.
