Hello once again Star Wars: Battlecry fans!

Today we're posting a quick update to let you know about the great progress we've been making on Cloud City (as well as new sound effects – Richard Goulet is responsible for creating these epic sounds - concepts and new/improved 3D models).

On top of this, we want to take a minute to mention our awesome new partnership with BlackIntel, who are letting us use their servers and storage! They are a great bunch of people and we highly recommend you check them out. More info on this partnership will be released at a later date.

Regarding the First Strike merge, we now have everything set up to ensure that assets from the First Strike and Battlecry teams is all in one place. We are still in the process of evaluating First Strike assets and getting the usable ones ready for UE4. This will take some time, especially as many team members have been very busy with other commitments. Things are moving in the right direction, however!

So, without further ado, it’s time to show you guys some progress:

As you can see above, a lot of work has been done trying to get the lighting in the Carbon Freezing Chamber as atmospheric as possible (Joseph Greve, Ande and Sharky have been the main contributors to this part of the level). On top of that, a lot of effort has gone into creating high quality props and textures: this level of detail is exactly what we're aiming for. Other areas such as the residential area have also been worked on and are coming along nicely!

Above is our re-worked and improved Rebel Trooper model by Ande. We have tried to go for a very detailed look, consistent with many of our other quality 3D models. Once we have the vast amount of First Strike models imported into UE4, we can begin to take what the First Strike team has done and build upon it, ensuring we get the most out of the powerful new UE4 features.

Member Thomas Woodward started work on a fantastic Imperial Probe Droid for us a few months ago but now you can see his latest progress.

In case you're wondering where the team is at with regard to our menu concepts and HUD designs, due to several brand new features making their way into the latest version of UE4, we've decided to come up with several fresh and exciting ideas. We won't be revealing too much of this at this time as they are still conceptual (and we've shown enough WIP menu/HUD concepts for now!) but we'll keep you updated.

As always, stay tuned for more and may the force be with you!

PS: If you have skills and have some free time at hand, contact us! We're especially in need of Animators, 3D Artists (primarily for weapons and equipment) and Environment Artists!

That is certainly something to try for the future. If we decide to attempt this, we would certainly have to make it work well and not look like separate levels cobbled together. This will also depend on the dev teams ability to design a map with room for dogfighting while keeping it safe for infantry below to have their battle too. A common complaint on Battlefront 2 on Hoth were about the snowspeeders strafing infantry. Then there is the issue of space not being breathable for troops and so on. There would be a LOT of work involved. So, while not out of the question, it would take some time to get right if we did attempt this. This is absolutely a task we want to look at in the future! First comes first, though. Hoth just so happens to be first!

I suppose it comes down to opinion on this like most hings do. I quite liked the map layout and appearance, though how it plays out is yet to be seen.

We are not sure when and if we are going to do anything from that time period. As of now we are putting our focus on the Rebellion Era.

Yes, as Mandosis has said, the focus for the team is currently on the vicious war between the Rebels and the Imperials. This is our starting point and we are building from here. Once the era has been expanded upon, we can set our sights to other well loved time periods Star Wars has to offer. As always, I'll be seeing YOU!! in my next post. . .BABAI!!

The pre-alpha may be the greatest game I have ever played. Indeed, the storyline and gameplay were masterfully designed and executed. Being able to control my favorite charter of all time as he embarked on a journey of epic proportions brought a tear to my eye, as I have never before beheld the degree of perfection demonstrated by this game. I was at a loss for words, only being able to mutter, "pure beauty" as I played. I cannot begin to fathom what I will experience with the first full release. I would like to thank the mod team for making my dreams a reality.

You have, honestly and sincerely, our greatest appreciation for your diligence in both perseverance and strength. It honors us to know that one has fought, bled, and risen to glory. Birthed with triumph, we salute you as the victorious hero you have become. We dearly hoped that the work which has been completed would be met with joyous outcries and admiration, and we have never been so proud to hear we have, indeed, achieved this goal. We can only ponder what shall come in the future. The future where you are no longer restricted. A land where you may wander and find true adventure. (And maybe you will actually get to finish the game!) As always, I'll see YOU!! in my next post. . .BABAI!!

Funny you mention that. . .I actually love Math and HATE (I repeat with great passion. . .HATE!) Grammar so, ideally, I would not pursue such a course of action. Ironically, my job as a PR requires the utmost perfection in Grammar so. . .I jus got tuh roll wif it!
