In 1986, the world's worst nuclear disaster occurred at the Chernobyl power station. Soviet authorities established a 30km 'Exclusion Zone' around this nuclear wasteland, but in 2006 a second explosion rocked the stricken reactor, obliterating all living things and causing the Zone's boundaries to ripple outwards. From this epicenter came waves of mutated creatures, deadly radiation, and a strange, anomalous energy. The Zone was cordoned off by the military, who would shoot on sight anyone foolish enough to brave the horrors within.

It is now 2012 - man has ventured further and further into the heart of the Zone driven by reports of strange 'artifacts' imbued with anomalous energy. Mercenaries and bounty hunters compete to recover these artifacts, which command extortionate prices on the black market. Others seek to find the truth behind the Zone, while some merely revel in the desolate lawlessness of the place. Whatever their motivation, over time these individuals - Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killer, Explorers and Robbers - have become known as S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
from Dezowave

Christmas is knocking on our doors again, chestnuts roasting on open fires and Jack Frost nipping at our nose. Another year has passed by, which brought us many good things and some not so good. At this time of the year we all should celebrate and concentrate on all the good that happened to us in 2014! First of all, thanks to your votes, we are in the TOP100 again on MOTY Awards, there are still 3 days left, and then the finals will begin. We are pretty excited about the results, even though we weren't really advertising it, but a little news post can't hurt. We were the first for at least 4 months in a row, and in the top 5 for almost 6 months this year from April till September, which was amazing. We are really glad for the given support from you and the Moddb Staff! The launch wasn't smooth, Lost Alpha killed the moddb servers due to the heavy visits and downloads, and we even beat Black Mesa in downloads and view counts when Moddb Staff compared the statistics of the 'day of release' of these projects. It was unexpected, and we felt honored. Later things calmed down, and we think we are on a good path now to finish the game. Those who regularly visit our site already know of the changes through patches, etc... so if they -you- think we have earned it, to be in the top 5 again, we will be there! Everything depends on your choice.

And a little status update of the upcoming developers cut. Our programmers updated the audio/sound engine of the game, now you can select all your sound cards from the list, and eax finally works, mainly on sound blaster cards, however eax effect won't work on integrated ac97 and similar chipsets. They also started remaking the weapon upgrade system, this time based more on the system in Call of Pripyat. The game designers are filling the empty parts of the levels with more "life" as well. Currently, we are testing the 2nd edited level of the 10 we plan to change. It's a long sequence, since we need to test run the levels individually, and in story mode as well, to see how the triggers work. When these are finished, we will check the keypoints in the storyline, and try to make the duller parts a bit better without destroying the "jenga tower" :).

Christmas and New Years is coming, with greetings of peace and prosperity, the whole dezowave group wishes the very best for you during this special time. May You enjoy all the best now and throughout the coming year. 2015 will be a cool year, it's not a secret we are working on our next project as well, which will be announced in a few months!

Hello everybody.

I have played S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: SOC a long time ago without mods, only with Patch 1.005 but gave up because of the poor weapon accuracy. Then I installed Oblivion Lost 2.2 and loved it, all the new features and weapons were amazing. Then I tried L.U.R.K. 1.1 and loved it aswell.

Recently I ordered CS and COP and am planning to play through the whole series.

Can experienced players recomend the best mods for every game to enjoy the story without bugs, but not changing the core gameplay?

After I finish the series, I would like to play one of the 3 games as an open world game, with a high quality mod that adds a lot of content. Which of the 3 games with which mod do you recomend to use as a sandbox? I would I was looking at COP with the Misery mod, but I am also waiting for Lost Alpha and L.U.R.K. for SOC.

Thank you in advance.

personally i believe the stalker complete mod is the best for having no bugs, realistic weapon accuracy and damaage, and improving the graphics and sound while keeping the atmosphere intact

For COP I would definitely play Misery I cannot recommend this mod enough, it's amazing. I would suggest waiting for Misery 2.0 though. Good hunting Stalker!

i played first few missions and seems like an AWESOME mod. i'll start over again tomorrow, so i don't screw the quests and acquire enough food, because hunger comes up more often, than in original.
a question: side quest, where you have to shoot dogs around the place near the military guarded bridge. can someone give me any tips, how to hunt em? i shoot one-two and others just run away and i can't find them anymore.
