Sonic Robo Blast 2 is a free 3D Sonic the Hedgehog fan-game built off a heavily modified version of the Doom Legacy engine. It is closely inspired by the original
Sonic games from the Sega Genesis, aiming to recreate their classic gameplay in a 3D environment while also providing a full host of multiplayer modes and features
in a fast-paced mix of FPS and platforming gameplay.

Past SRB2 developers AJ “SSNTails” Freda and Mike “Spazzo” Antonakes have released their first commercial title for iOS: Roly Poly Putt!
The game is a platforming / mini-golf hybrid that takes inspiration from Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Monkey Ball. It also contains quite a few nods to their previous time with SRB2 that fans may appreciate.

Roly Poly Putt is available for purchase on the iTunes App Store: Itunes.apple.com
If you own an iOS device, check it out!

As for SRB2 development, apologies for the lack of updates - however, development has been continuing at a steady pace, and a detailed wiki page for progress on v2.1 may be found here: Wiki.srb2.org

This game was good at first, but you quickly realize almost none of the difficulty is legitimate, and just either stupid level design, bad controls, or the fact that you slide around after jumping on anything.

I quit after the boss on Techno Hill (A level which is a prime example of non-legitimate difficulty), where you have to hit Robotnik of course, basic stuff, but oh surprise you fly back 100 feet after you do so you fall right off the stage.

The game has potential but is ruined by bad controls, and things that just don't make sense to me.

I'm sure I'll try it again later but really, first impression was not stellar.

First off, thanks for the honest criticism. I'll try to address your points as best I can:
First, what exactly did you mean by lacking "legitimate" difficulty? Did it feel like you were getting "cheap deaths?" (like falling into a pit you never could have seen coming, etc.) Did it feel like you were wrestling with controls etc. more than the game's enemies? Did it simply feel like the first few levels were too easy?
Second, on the control point, the game uses a very momentum-based movement formula. For example, if you jump on a badnik from a high height, you will bounce back up the same height that you jumped from (like the classic games). This applies to horizontal momentum as well, so in the case of fighting Robotnik, you will be bounced backwards at the same speed you went flying in at.
Finally, what were the other "things that didn't make sense?"

In any case, I hope you return to give it another shot!

I enjoyed this game, it worked well in creating that Sonic feel despite playing very differntly to any Sonic game out there, excellent use of the Doom Engine. The extremly high walls with the same repeated textures however looks dull, less and more Sky would be better. The level design too in parts is frustrating and a little weak (For example barriers on some platforms would make it less frustrating). It'd also be nice to have some levels flow into each other like Sonic 3. Still fun and excellently done. If you ever need a story/level ideas I got one in the bag that might work well with this ;)

Wow impressive! This game holds a lot of unique gameplay mechanics, yet still holds true to the Sonic the Hedgehog style of gameplay. Most of all its got something that every amazing Sonic game has; an incredible instrumental soundtrack. BTW thanks for releasing so many ports (yay linux)!

The masterserver address - where you get the list of online games - is actually wrong in the default config file. To fix your problem, open up config.cfg in the SRB2 folder and search for the variable "masterserver" - change "srb2.servegame.org:28900" to "ms.srb2.org:28900", and you should be able to see all online games when browsing the server list.
This shouldn't be an issue in the upcoming 2.0.5 release, as the default masterserver will be the correct one.

There are indeed many cross-platform builds for SRB2. However - depending on the version - you may need to do some work to get these builds running, which is why none of them are posted here (yet).
You may find links to alternate builds on the SRB2.org donwloads page: Srb2.org (check near the bottom)
