Born of atomic death! Raised in the shadow of a mushroom cloud! He's a squid! Not an Octopus! He's Squid Yes! Not So Octopus! And he's very irritable. A classic single player, psychedelic, retro styled, arena shooter leaping from the PC to the Xbox360 in style. And with lasers. We like lasers.

It seems like an eternity now since we handed over a preview build of Squid Yes, Not So Octopus 360 to the ever awesome ModDB for their Summer Of Mods & Indies promotion but it's finally done, out there and available to buy. It's been through some changes along the way, got a bit of a buffing up here and there, but it's done, it's out and it's only 80 of your fake Microsoft points.

Based on the precursor to Squid Yes, Not So Octopus: Squid Harder (available to download and play for free on ModDB right this very second), SYNSO360 is an 8 minute time attack arena shooter with a small line in flashy lights and tripped out graphics.

The premise is simple, you're a squid. Definitely not an octopus. You were born of atomic death and aliens are trying to disturb your birthday celebrations. We all hate it when that happens, right? Yeah. So you have to shoot them with laser beams that fly out from your cephalopodic brainbonce.

For 8 whole minutes the aliens will attack, every minute you survive earns you one whole point and shooting aliens earns you tiny points with decimals. Can you survive the brutal onslaught? I'm sure you can, but it's going to take practice.

Forsaking the glowy style of Squid Harder, SYNSO360 returns to the heady days of pixels and arcade machines, oh, alright, it glows as well. We couldn't resist it. It's in our blood.

You can download the demo or the full version from the Xbox Live Marketplace right away, the full version will set you back an absolutely tiny 80 Microsoft Points to purchase so it won't even break the bank.

We'd like to thank everyone who's made this release possible along the way, the chaps at Way Of The Rodent from where the original idea came from, Andy Noble who ported the game to the 360, all the chaps in the XNA Community who playtested and peer reviewed the game and of course, all you chaps at ModDB for the support over the past 12 months. It's good to get it out there finally and we hope you enjoy the game. Let us know what you think in the comments section, your feedback has proved invaluable so far.

I'm very impressed!
In our 'unofficial-never-released-secret indie devs video', we talked about SYNSO for nearly half the time.
Congrats!

I actually could not play this on the 360 with the controller believe it or not lol

I think I'd much rather play it on PC at this point. Still, it's a great little gem of a game. Hopefully you sell a ton on Indie Games :)

Took me a while to get used to it too. It's a tad faster as well, which makes things a little bit more frantic.

It comes with practice, mind :)

Thanks for trying it!
