Legions of infantry, tanks, artillery guns and more await your command. Take up arms under the Stars & Stripes, Iron Cross, Hammer & Sickle, or Union Jack, then command your troops to brutal victory. Hundreds of units, custom maps, deep and fast-paced real-time-strategy play. The scale? Epic. The gameplay? Intense. The cost? Zero - Spring: 1944 is not a "mod" of a commercial effort, but a from-scratch game developed using the open source Spring Engine. In terms of other modern RTS - Spring: 1944 is the golden mean between Supreme Commander and Company of Heroes.
Spring 99 Was released just yesterday, which means a new stable is now quite a priority. Its on the todo list for some time now actually, im sure the team will want to double time it now, but an ETA cannot be given, tough there shouldnt be too many hurdes to tackle left.
I hope to be able to give some extra information soon, so stay tuned.
In the meantime enjoy another weekly round of old random testgame screenshots, i put up some of the more interesting ones now.
not sure if description is to be "hurdles to tackle" well hurdles hurt, I do not recommend tackling them but maybe burning them because nobody likes to jump either.
Also what does "released" mean if it's not? or where does one download this?
Sorry for late reply.
The game was released a very long time ago but the current stable is highly outdated and thus was removed, we are working on a new one currently and make a whole installer package hopefully once its done.
Its hard to develop a game with just gasoline and matches btw. :)
I have always been an admirer of your work, but I always wondered if you had plans to improve the user GUI, as compared to other games like 0AD it feels a bit too shabby.
Its a known problem but UI design is not as easy as it seems, not for techincal reasons but for not having much experience in that regard.
On the plus side since extra UI is client side, people can take it up themselfs to make them and we can offer drop in UI widgets at any time.
