Spark Rising was recently selected to showcase at GDC at The MIX event for indie games. We created a demo for this event, so we decided to share this demo with you for free!

Spark Rising Demo: Titan Rising! MacSpark Rising - Gaiden 3 - Titan Rising - PC



This Gaiden, version 3 (a "gaiden" is a contained experience, bit of a side adventure for us to test new features and gather feedback), is a pre-alpha demo map used to highlight the new art style we're playing around with and also show a Titan! We call it Titan Rising:) Or in layman, it's a prototype for how a boss might work.

Right now, all features are rudimentary, as our next steps are to improve the controls, enemy AI, and objective system before we start scaling. What's cool is that this whole map was created in-game, which means you could create something similar on your own in our creative mode. The build features have been turned off for testing purposes. There's both a PC and Mac version.

What you'll encounter in this demo:

  • New art style - Dusk!
  • New decorative blocks, used for, what else, decoration
  • Turrets that can be commandeered to fight for you
  • 2 types of enemies
  • New HUD design we're testing out
  • New sample soundtrack
  • Titan! Not quite Titanfall. More like Titan Rising! Ha.

We already got some great feedback, ie. it's not clear how the objective system works, so please share with us your thoughts. The more you let us know, the better the game will be!

I think the boss health/resistance is too low, maybe good for a level 1 boss, but far too easy to kill with the gun you provided in the demo... Maybe mouse sensibility can be a configurable parameter (is too high and a cheap mouse can't handle it so it makes you become dizzy).
Objectives (if you continue with this system) could be more... clear? I mean, it's hard to see the location of the thing you must shoot in the colorful ocean of things that are on the screen.
The rest of the game, in my opinion is perfect! (I seriously love the way you mix old-fashioned frenetic shooters with actual gameplay to make an over the top voxel based shooter)
