Heyo! Loving this game, definitely one of the best takes on solar system combat I've seen. Bought in, will be watching! Couple of questions though. One, the planets will follow their orbital paths eventually, right? Having them static is kind of wierd, especially since the tactical thought that will be required for when travel times change over time will be interesting.

Secondly, and this is something that really irks me, why can't I fly to the moon on standard drives? It'd be a matter of hours to travel that far, and moving my horde of an Earth Defense Force to the moon before I built Cruisers (because I didnt understand how warp worked at the time, I wasn't channeling my research exclusively in that direction) or without having to have a massive warp capacity would have been great for defending against marauding aliens who kept sacking my moon base!

Third (sorry for dragging on) - would it be too much trouble to be able to pause/unpause whilst in menus, while the clock stays frozen? That way I can pause whilst in a construction menu prompt - so the clock doesnt rattle away several hours before I am able slam on space when I leave that menu. Just a little niggle I had. Regardless of my nitpicking, this looks like a brilliant game, and I will be watching future versions like a hawk!

Hi Demon, glad that you like the game!

I get a lot of questions about planet movement, it's something I hoped to add in the early design stage, but due to balance issues it will not be part of the official campaign. If there is sufficient interest, I can make it available for modding though, since the base engine code was already built with this feature in mind.

You can fly to the moon on standard drives just fine. Travel time is set to 3 days in that case. However, fleets containing Fighters and Corvettes can not do any travel at all, since they are too small to have proper long-term life support. So, put only Frigates and Destroyers in your fleet, then send them to the moon.

Number three is already in, just not documented well: If any popup menu is open, hitting F5 or the pause key on your keyboard will always set the game speed to be paused. Here's an old changelog entry for this:
- Additional gamespeed keys: F5 pause/unpause (like Pause and Space already), F6-F8 for the three game speeds
- Additional expert pause control keys: Shift-Pause or Shift-Space only pauses the game. Ctrl-Pause or Ctrl-Space only unpauses the game.
- Finally, pressing Pause or F5 while any modal popup is up only pauses the game

I should probably add that as another control tutorial soon...

Minor update: Planet movement will be available as an option when starting a new campaign in the 0.81 update. It works fine on a technical level, but no guarantees how fun it will be to play. The balance focus will remain on the "static planets" game variant.
