it looks so real, how did you get the texture for the interior to look like real carpet?
By pulling way back on the specular. In fact, that's kind of an automatic thing due to the global illumination. The interior is lit by reflected ambient light, which means there aren't going to be many if any highlights inside the car.
So it could be said that the carpet look was an accident, even though it can be done on purpose.

xalener is right. Draft render using draft settings with Final Gather only. More than likely from storing and re-using the FG Map. Max has issues. I never use GI. Cranking up the FG settings removes that artifact but JLG81 is right also, sometimes you can get some pretty cool effects doing that :)
