Slender: The Eight Pages, formerly known as Slender is a free experimental game developed by Parsec Productions. It was released as a beta in June 2012 for Windows and Mac OS X.
What is this? A horror game. Very scary... since it is scary i wan't to tell you that the gameplay is COMPLETELY boring! Not kidding. So what happens after you find the eight pages? Why do you need them? Do you get killed by slenderman at the end? Then that makes no sense playing this game since you're going to die easily.
Slender, the classic horror game we all know and love, but is it really all that great? I had to ponder on this for a while, but I think I've come to the conclusion that, as popular as it is, it still has some flaws that get in the way of the experience. If there's one thing that Slender does best, it's atmosphere. Slender knows how to tell you danger is lurking around, and as you make progress the music becomes more irrational and odd, much like the monster that is chasing you. The feeling of being stalked is clear and fresh, and the feeling never truly goes away. The main flaws I found in Slender involve the question, is he always going to stalk me from behind? Well, yes, he only stalks from behind so at least you know where he is almost all the time. There have been instances where he appeared from the front, but those were rare. I feel like the game would be much scarier if you never knew where to expect him, like he could be hiding behind the very tree you're walking next to. I feel like just having him approach from behind kind of makes the experience more like a game of red-light green-light. Either way, Slender is a great game to try and I hope it evolves even more at some point.
I remember the first time I played this game in an older version when It was only called Slender :P I rated this 8 out of 5 things I focus on mostly when I review a game, it is Quality, Scares, Length, Lag and Story (atmosphere and stuff like that is included in the Quality!)
Quality: Pretty good atmosphere if I must say so myself, there is no voice-acting though :P But since it has no voice-acting Im not dragging it down :P Atmosphere is creepy and when the sound of Slenderman being close scared the f*ck outta me almost everytime, a very good atmospheric horror game! Scares: I ruined it in the Quality, when Slenderman arrives, BIG 8 for the scares :D Length: Well xD Decisions, decisions... It variates so I dunno it's probably at a BIG 7 since it's really hard to finish it :P (And Im such a noob I never finished it because it was to hard :P) Lag: There is no lag so not much to say, a clean 10 :) Story: There's so many different stories behind the Slenderman mytho that I dont even know where to start but Slender Sanatorium and Slender is linked to eachother if you didn't know :P Since your a little girl in Slender and in Sanatorium there is a page saying "took my girl, now coming for me" written in blood and your controlling the father :P I'd have to give it an 8 :)
Quality: 9 - Scares: 8 - Length: 7 - Lag: 10 - Story: 8 So here it is, of course the game could have been better, but hey, it's Slender, it's supposed to be like this :P
