  • Before calling this a rip-off, we have taken legit permission from AgentParsec (Mark J. Hadley) before we started developing this game and he did say Yes.
  • We want to get the old Slender: The Arrival feeling in this game, so it's like a remake.
  • No assets in this game are what you call "stolen". We either use free assets from free websites or we also use the same assets that Blue Isle used in Slender The Arrival.
  • Try to play Slender: Anxiety in the highest graphics settings if your computer is good for a fun experience.
  • If you cannot move the mouse, adjust the sensitivity in Options.

He will find you sooner or later

Slender: Anxiety is a story-driven horror game created by Hades Productions which will be using the Unity3D engine. This game is based off Slender: The Arrival made by Blue Isle Studios and Parsec Productions.

Taking place after the events of Slender: Anxiety BETA. This game will tell the story of the survivors and witnesses of the tall bald man. They keep their terrifying secrets and experiences stored in camcorders and tapes, only left for other witnesses to find. They all have to stop HIM and end what they call this "Hell on Earth". Going to different places and locations, they all have to finish their objective... while at the same time staying away from HIM. But that's the question: Will they manage to survive the wrath of HIM?

You were too late Joan

Using the Unity3D engine, Slender: Anxiety will try to offer a different Slender experience for the players. Our aim is to make an unforgettable Slender experience for the players. If you think that this is just a generic Slender clone, you are wrong! This Slender game will be even better than that! This Slender game will offer different locations for you to explore. Different threats for you to face. You will not be only collecting pages. Our aim is to add the collection mechanic while at the same time keeping it away. We don't want to keep players bored. We want them to be entertained by this game. The team over here listens to your complaints and use them to make the game better. We're also trying our best to make sure the game isn't "poorly optimized". We're finding every technique there is to make sure that this game will run on everyone's computers without any lag or framerate issues. Our goal is to entertain the players.

It's been a while. We haven't given up on Slender: Anxiety, or any other mentioned projects. It is still in development, and is looking pretty sweet. We can't wait to show you all. Apologies for the long absence. I will try to keep updating as soon as I can. I know you are getting tired of waiting. (Trust me, I don't like waiting either, so I feel you) But we are very close.

We can't share a whole lot, but I promise you, it will be worth the wait.

This will absolutely be a full game. Unfortunately, The team has been very busy, but now since school's out, they will have more time to work on the full product. we are currently working on a final demo, and then we will work from there to finally get the ball rolling on a full-length experience.

Most of the members of the team asked me about this. All I can say is that there is no solid YES or solid NO.
Getting greenlit by Steam would allow the team (and me) to make the game better and bigger. Not to mention that there would be automatic updates that are quick instead of downloading over 300-500 MB everytime just for a small change.
However, I don't think there would be enough people voting for this game and I know nothing of the conciquences for the greenlighting (yet).
So I can't really say, but we'll see. :)

But before making any move towards Steam, I'll have to release the next/new version of the Demo which I kept promising. The Demo is nearly finished and testers are hopefully testing it but this entire week I am unable to work (cought a flu) and I am just waiting for it to end and everyone else is busy with their own project, things and life.

I doubt it, Valve wouldn't allow it - unless we had express permission from Eric Knudsen (AKA Victor Surge) and the (anonymous) third-party option holder to use the Slender Man in our game - to avoid drama.

(TO: TheWalshinator)
That's actually false.
Valve doesn't greenlight the game based on their own judgment, they greenlight a game based on the game's score/ratings. There was once a game that got greenlit (not sure if I am using that word correctly) (can't remember the game's name, but I do know it was like DayZ, an apocaliptic survival simulator game or something) and after a week or 2 (maybe more) it got shut down (because, from what I heard, the game was bad, it didn't live up to it's representations, it drained a lot of money from people to the point where people wanted their money back).
My point: The game is greenlit by a community (as far as I know).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Haunted Memories is a Slender-based game that is greenlit, without the blessing from Eric V. Surge. The thing is, Slenderman is a myth. Myths, fairytales, folklores, etc. don't get copyrighted (Unles they are used in something extremely huge).
We (or to be more correct, I) recieved permission from M. J. Hadley to create a Slender game that is based on Mark's Slender game because the universe S:A plays out is extremely similar to the S:TA's.

Trust me, I'm basing my statement on a popular Slender-based game that you might have heard of; the one that goes by the title Faceless. Faceless was blocked from Steam Greenlight at one point - even though 1) it was going to be free at the time 2) it got high ratings from the community and 3) the developers had Mr. Knudsen's permission and blessing to create it, which they had made clear - due to copyright concerns, specifically regarding the option holder. Thing is, while Eric is the undisputed creator of the Slender Man myth, he doesn't actually have the power to decide who can and who can't use the Slender Man in films, TV, literature or games; that right goes to the option holder, who owns the Slender Man IP.

(Had to divide into multiple comments because of 2000 character limit)

Yes, Haunted Memories got Greenlit, but that is because the game had clear differences to it. The most important of them was that they never used the Slender Man myth or character, nor is Slender Man ever mentioned in it; Haunted Memories tells the story of Mark Slender (who, as established by the scraps collected, is a completely different entity altogether, only similarities are the basic appearance and the "Slender" in his name).
Just because the Slender Man is known as an urban myth, it doesn't mean it isn't copyrighted. Copyright on a work (in this case, the Slender Man myth and character) automatically applies as soon as it is published (in this case, on the SomethingAwful forums). Those rights belonged to Eric, and were bought from him by the option holder, who probably applied for extra protection on their claim to Slender Man.
To be honest, I don't think Hadley's permission will mean much to Valve, since he doesn't own the Slender Man myth or character. Just because of the fact that he and BIS might have had Eric's and/or the option holder's permission to use the Slender Man in Slender: The Arrival, it doesn't mean that either can grant the permission to use Slender Man to someone else. And - as I have stated before- the option holder's words will outweigh all in terms of talking to Valve.
Not trying to be a downer here, just saying that I wouldn't hold my breath for S:A being allowed on Steam anytime soon, unless you're willing to take it up with the option holder.

" 'The Being' is not the 'Slender Man' nor does it have any connection(s) to the same universe as the 'Slender Man'.
Not associated with Parsec Productions, Blue Isle Studios or Justin Ross. "

(The quote above - directly copied from Faceless' steam page)
As far as I know however, the issue has been resolved due to the fact that there were other Slenderman based games (even the greenlit ones) that didn't get any permission in any way and didn't face any problems.

As for your Haunted Memories argument....
"OOOOOOOOOO! Mark Slender, totally slender-unrelated".

All jokes aside, yes HM tried using an original antagonist for a Slender game however this Mark Slender holds a lot of similarities to the Slenderman, and cannot be excluded as an original character.

"Just because the Slender Man is known as an urban myth, it doesn't mean it isn't copyrighted."

I never said it ISN'T copyrighted, I said that usually myths, folklores, stories don't get copyrighted(... but doesn't mean that they won't).

Actually, that was one of the arguments that they raised with Valve, but in the end they still had to deal with the option holders. That was in 2012, when Faceless was going to be free.
However, if you look at the Christmas 2014 journal, guess who showed up again?

<i>"Faceless did certainly have its struggles this year, earlier on we were told to cease all development by a lawyer for the Slender Man's option holders.
Despite direct support from Eric Knudsen himself, the option holders own the rights to adapt the Slender Man to media such as film/TV, and videogames. They relied on outdated information from way back when we were called "Slender: Source" and sought to close the project down. Fortunately, after much deliberation and communication, we are pleased to say that the request was dropped after the option holders acknowledged that we provided enough information that The Being is altogether a different entity, despite the remaining similarities in its appearance."</i>

Both times, the issue was resolved but not for the reason you thought. Both times, the option holder had to be dealt with. And I think Valve would be extra tough on games with "Slender" or "Slender Man" in the title (or, likely in Faceless' case, SM or an entity that looks like him being in one of the main images unless - as I have stated before - the option holder's express permission has been granted for use of SM)

That is indeed interesting, and it looks like 'The Being' will look and act far differently from the 'Slender Man' used in other games... which sounds like an okay change.
Well, I guess one-two Slender game on Steam is enough (S:TA and Faceless, unless Faceless completely gets shut down), and judging by the number of people currently working on S:A, I don't think S:A will even get close to that point, even with other games. Dx
