The time of Diplomacy is over. The length of the war and differing opinions on what should be done to bring the war to an end has led to a splintering of the groups involved. The controlling powers-that-be have depleted arsenals and seemed to have exhausted all efforts of diplomacy. Trapped in a stalemate, sub-factions have rebelled and broken off the main alignments. Rebellion is upon us.

A full-fledged expansion to the original, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion draws you even deeper into the galactic struggle for supremacy with appealing new factions, terrifyingly cool new ships of all sizes, enhanced lighting and particle effects for increased visual pleasure and all-new victory conditions.

About The Homeworld Returns... with 1 comment by El_Greavesy on Dec 20th, 2014

Introduction:
First of all, I need to say that the Softimage problem has been fixed. This week I focused on trying to get the Hiigaran Carrier added into the game, balancing ships, sorting out a few researches and most of all trying to ships in a battle. So the Hiigaran Carrier, with no subsystems, was converted into the game. I had problems with the Hangars but thats just because I spelt it wrong :( (Im dum sometimes.) Below are some pictures of the carrier ingame. (The 4 hangar points have been changed to two, one on the top one on the bottom.)

Hiigaran Carriers (DevBlog 4)

Hiigaran Carriers (DevBlog 4)

Second of all, I had a little try out of the two factions in a 'little' battle. The Vaygr Flagship absolutely destroyed the carriers because they literally had infinate health. (Fixed this) Again, the speed of the Flagship was faster than a Vaygr Scout! So I obviously had to change that aswell.

A 'little' fight.

This next picture was just for fun really, but it shows lots and lots of ships....

A 'little' fight.

Even though I squished loads of bugs in this week I made even more when I added the HGN Carrier. Loads of more bugs occured(mainly the weapons) but I think that this week has been a stepping stone in this mod, since I have made the mod at a point where you can have a battle but a lot more needs to be added. I think the thing I shall do is now the frigates and corvettes, and obviously keep posting you guys pictures of my improvments and additions to the mod.

PS: I bought EVE online and I'm addicted :O But that doesn't mean the progress will slow.

Never played Sins of a Solar Empire, but am an insane fan of EAW. I am a huge fan of RTS strategy games (some of my favorites are EAW, C&C and TPW), and was wondering if you guys think this game is a good buy.

Without a doubt, worth every cent (or pence, or penny, or whatever depending on where you are from)

I often describe this game as everything that EAW could have been.
(And the team behind the EAW mod 'Thrawn's Revenge' are doing a mod for this game. - It's called Ascendancy)

Would I have to buy Trinity and Rebellion to have all Sins of a Solar Empire content, or is it all contained in Rebellion?

Is there any way to get a physical copy of Rebellion? Because I have a very slow internet with a limited bandwidth, so downloading the game directly to my computer is likely not an option for me...

Yep, depending where you live might make a difference though.
I'm in Australia, so I popped into EB Games not long after it came out and bought an actual disc.
(You still have to set up a Steam account which sucks)

I'm currently in the US, do you know of any stores that sell a physical disk of Rebellion in the US? I already have a Steam account, so that part isn't too bad.

I'm afraid I don't.
From what I've been able to gather off of various forums around the place, Walmart would be your best bet, but that's just a guess unfortunately.

I'm in the same boat as you (slow internet, poor bandwidth) so I find it really frustrating not being able to play a lot of today's games as so many of them focus only on multi-player.

I wish you luck in finding a copy though, it is a truly brilliant game.

Figured out that a physical copy of Rebellion is not available in the US (in fact, I think that Australia is the only place to obtain a physical copy). However, I've heard that JB HI-FI both carries a physical copy of Rebellion and ships it internationally, so this might be my answer.

By the way, thank you for the help. I ordered Trinity about a week ago, and it is due Tuesday. The price of Rebellion is a bit steep (with the international shipping), but with my birthday coming soon, I'll probably get it as a present, so no worries. :)

And if you still play EAW at all, I'm working on a mod at the moment - Secrets Of The Venator.

Go to the mod tab of the main menu and hit the "Show mod path" button, then extract the mod to that location.

SOSE is pretty ******* simple. Basic resource-gathering. Simple research system. Simple unit building. Simple upgrading of planets. Not sure which part of this game would be complicated?
"huge learning curve"... Ever tried things like EVE or X3? Now, that's a steep learning curve.

Sins is actually not as complex as it seems in the beginning, although it has certainly more depth than EAW. That one was especially in the conquest mode always more of a fun game without many strategical elements.

I agree that is fun its just I jumped into my first game and everything is so new to me, I usually play more simple RTS games like C&C and stuff like that. I love the conquest mode in SOSE too, has a ton of potential.

No, I actually ment the conquest mode of EAW :P
Getting into Sins and learning it's mechanics was, at least for me, one of the most interesting parts of the game. After a while the standard sins get's a bit boring, but that's what we got mods for^^
